Position Summary: This position assists the Visitor Services Manager in leading the Visitor Services team. The team provides frontline customer service and ticketing sales to the Garden’s 250,000 annual visitors. The position serves as the lead staff when the Manager is not available and is responsible for overall guest relations. The Visitor Services Assistant Manager also works closely with staff members across the organization and sets an example of exemplary customer service for all who interact with the Garden. The position is responsible for leading guests on a journey from visitor to member to donor.
 
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

<li>Assists with all aspects of the Visitor Services team including scheduling for all coverage needs (onsite sales, phone coverage, and evening hours for events as needed).</li>
<li>Assists in keeping the team up to date on all daily happenings at the Garden and encourages the team to be familiar with the grounds.</li>
<li>Assists in providing ongoing training as appropriate for the Visitor Services team in all aspects of their work.</li>
<li>Seeks out external training for self and makes recommendations for training for the team as needed.</li>
<li>Works closely with Membership team to convert visitors to members and assists in defining membership sales strategy within the Visitor Services team.</li>
<li>In conjunction with Visitor Services Manager, works closely with Community Relations team to ensure all third-party activities are handled appropriately onsite.</li>
<li>Works closely with Visitor Experience team to ensure all guests have a quality experience.</li>
<li>Works with Manager to ensure all team members are always representing the Garden in an appropriate manner.</li>
<li>Assists in defining and documenting policies and procedures as they relate to Visitor Services activities.</li>
<li>Assists in responsibility for all cash handling and deposits within Visitor Services (ensures drawers are balanced, PCI and PII compliance is followed).</li>
<li>Works in conjunction with Manager and IT team to ensure all applicable functions in POS system are being used to their fullest extent.</li>
<li>Troubleshoots software as needed.</li>
<li>Must be comfortable in the presence of dogs on our dog admission days.</li>
<li>Supervise volunteer staff assigned to Visitor Services as necessary.</li>

Requirements/Qualifications:

<li>Weekends, nights, and holidays are required. Flexible schedule is a must.</li>
<li>Minimum of 3 years customer service, retail, or fundraising experience is preferred.</li>
<li>Supervisory or team management experience is preferred.</li>
<li>Cash handling experience and the ability to operate a POS cash register.</li>
<li>Good computer skills including MS Office (word, excel, etc.), Outlook, and use of web browsers.</li>
<li>Gardening or Arts and Culture experience helpful but not required.</li>
<li>Good communication skills, able to speak, read, and write in English.</li>
<li>Fluency in Spanish and/or Kreyol is a plus.</li>

This position is responsible for the maintenance and care of ornamental beds, trees, and shrubs, as well as all areas under the responsibility of the Horticulture Department. Experience is great, but we will provide specific training as well.
 Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
<ul>
<li>Maintain ornamental beds by mulching, weeding, and clearing areas free of litter and leaves. Also, properly groom, deadhead, stake, and prune plants.</li>
<li>Assist in maintaining water lilies, lotus, and marginal aquatic plants by deadheading and removing spent leaves.</li>
<li>Skim floating weeds and debris from pools.</li>
<li>Recognize and report potential physiological or nutritional problems such as wilting, leaf scorch, or deficiencies of nitrogen, iron, and magnesium.</li>
<li>Follow proper techniques of soil preparation, plant installation, and pesticide/herbicide/fertilizer application.</li>
<li>Other duties as required and assigned.</li>
</ul>
Requirements/Qualifications:
<ul>
<li>A demonstrated interest in public gardening and/or landscape grounds maintenance.</li>
<li>Must possess a valid driver’s license and good driver's record and be capable of operating pickup trucks and other essential equipment safely.</li>
<li>Knowledge of plant material, proper maintenance techniques, and correct horticultural practices, with good aesthetic sensibility.</li>
<li>Ability to work well within a diverse and multicultural workforce, including volunteers.</li>
<li>Ability to work as part of a team or individually with little or no supervision.</li>
<li>Ability to operate all types of lawn/gardening equipment, blowers, trimmers, etc. safely.</li>
<li>Good interpersonal communication and literacy skills.</li>
<li>Normal work hours are 6:00am-2:30pm; must have flexible schedule as work priorities or seasonal needs change. Schedule may include evenings or weekends.</li>
<li>Must be able to work the required overtime, often with little advance notice (e.g., storm damage).</li>
<li>Must be able to work outside in inclement weather, extreme heat, high winds, and rain.</li>
<li>Must be able to perform physical work including bending, stooping, and reaching.</li>
<li>Pre-Employment background check required.</li>
