DESCRIPTION
The Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller serves Leon County residents by supporting court operations, processing and recording judicial orders, and safeguarding public records and funds.

Starting Salary Notice:
Initial appointments are typically made at or near the minimum of the approved pay range, consistent with budget authorization and internal equity.
Position Overview:
The Finance Administrative Specialist provides administrative and operational support for finance functions by coordinating information, maintaining records, and assisting with financial processes in accordance with established procedures and organizational requirements.
The position applies established procedures but does not interpret financial policy or determine financial outcomes. Authority is limited to processing, coordinating, and documenting actions defined by procedure. The role supports operational continuity within finance functions and ensures materials are properly routed, recorded, and retained.

ESSENTIAL ROLE RESPONSIBLITIES

Administrative Coordination
Coordinates communications, schedules, correspondence, and document routing supporting financial operations. Maintains records and documentation in accordance with retention requirements.
Financial Support Activities
Assists with preparation, tracking, and organization of financial materials and supporting documentation. Performs data entry, tracking, and verification activities within established procedures.
Customer & Internal Support
Provides assistance to staff, departments, and external contacts regarding general financial administrative processes. Routes inquiries requiring interpretation or decision-making to appropriate personnel.
Operational Coverage & Collaboration
Maintains familiarity with finance processes to support workflow continuity and cross-training as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Foundational Knowledge
Knowledge of office practices, record organization, and general administrative procedures.
Functional Skills
Ability to maintain records, coordinate information, and follow established procedures accurately.
Communication & Professional Skills
Ability to communicate effectively with staff and the public in a professional manner.
Analytical & Judgment Skills
Ability to identify discrepancies and refer matters outside established procedures to appropriate personnel.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Required Education
High school diploma or GED.
Required Experience
Experience in administrative support, records coordination, financial support activities, or related work.
Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience may be considered.
Required Licensure or Certification
None required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience supporting finance, accounting, or governmental administrative operations.
Experience maintaining structured documentation or financial records systems.

CONDITIONS OF JOB OFFER & EMPLOYMENT

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work is performed in an office environment and may require prolonged sitting, standing, walking, and handling files or materials up to approximately 20 pounds. May be required to perform duties during operational disruptions in accordance with organizational policies.
