This position is responsible for serving members and guests, maintaining member service control, answering the telephone, answering member questions, and performing various clerical duties.
Requirements:
- Greet and engage prospective members in a warm, professional manner, creating a welcoming environment that reflects YMCA values.
- Actively promotes YMCA memberships and programs by clearly communicating benefits and value to prospective members.
- Follow up consistently with individuals who have expressed interest in joining—via phone, email, or in-person—to answer questions, overcome objections, and encourage sign-up.
- Maintain a list of prospective leads, track communication, and work to close sales in a timely manner.
- Conduct informative facility tours designed to highlight program offerings and address the specific needs and interests of each visitor.
- Utilize sales techniques to build value, address concerns, and convert inquiries into memberships.
- Answer phone and in-person inquiries professionally, ensuring potential members receive accurate information about membership options, pricing, and program details.
- Serve as a key contact point between potential members and program supervisors to ensure follow-through and strong onboarding experiences.
- Process membership and program sign-ups accurately and efficiently, ensuring all data is entered correctly into the system.
- Handle all financial transactions with integrity, preparing accurate end-of-shift reports and deposits.
- Track membership sales and follow-up efforts using internal systems or lead tracking tools.
- Assist with check-in and access control for members and guests.
- Support overall facility operations, including opening and closing duties and maintaining a clean, welcoming lobby/lounge space.
- Help address and resolve member concerns, ensuring a positive and professional experience.
Qualifications:
- Excellent verbal and communication skills
- Successfully complete State of Florida Criminal History Background Check requirements as well as meet the Association’s policies on background screening
- One to two years prior customer service experience
- Professional appearance and behavior
- Able to prioritize and meet deadlines
- Able to maintain confidentiality
- Positive attitude
- Must be a self-starter, with high energy and a positive attitude
- Adhere to drug/alcohol/smoke free workplace policy
CERTIFICATIONS AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:
- CPR and First Aid Certifications required
- Completion of YMCA of the USA Child Abuse and Neglect class
- Completion of the YMCA’s Blood Borne Pathogens training
- Staff Safety Requirements/Cleaning Protocols
- Additional training classes as recommended by Supervisor
