2nd Shift Mechanic/Setup Technician

Reports to Assistant Plant Manager
Summary
This role is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and setting up production equipment including conveyors, packaging lines, and automation systems. Under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor, this position plays a critical role in ensuring optimal production performance and plant safety.
Key Responsibilities
•\tInspect and observe mechanical devices in operation to diagnose issues.
•\tDisassemble and reassemble production lines and equipment as needed.
•\tAdjust mechanical components and control instruments to improve performance and productivity.
•\tRepair or replace worn or defective parts.
•\tPerform routine lubrication and cleaning of mechanical components.
•\tConduct preventive maintenance and troubleshoot packaging and production equipment.
•\tSafely operate hand tools, pneumatic, and electric tools.
•\tComplete machine changeovers for new production orders.
•\tEnsure compliance with company safety procedures, policies, and standards.
•\tSupport continuous improvement and communicate equipment needs to leadership.
•\tCarry out additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the Lead or Supervisor.
Skills & Knowledge
•\tSolid general mechanical aptitude required.
•\tBasic knowledge of pneumatics and hydraulics preferred.
•\tBasic electrical knowledge is a plus.
•\tStrong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
•\tMust be able to work 2nd shift.
•\tUnderstanding of lock-out/tag-out (LOTO), machine guarding, and operator safety procedures.
•\tFamiliarity with food safety standards, GMPs, and SOPs.
Experience
•\tMinimum 3 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing or packaging environment preferred.
•\tExperience supporting production lines, monitoring equipment, and adjusting speeds.
•\tProven ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
•\tOn-the-job training for all equipment will be provided.
Education
•\tHigh school diploma or GED required.
•\tTechnical certifications in mechanical, electrical, or related trades preferred.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
•\tDaily exposure to mechanical equipment and forklifts in a manufacturing environment.
•\tRegular activities include standing, walking, lifting up to 50 lbs, reaching, kneeling, twisting, and climbing ladders.
•\tOperation of forklifts and pallet jacks as needed.
•\tMust have normal color vision (position not suitable for individuals with color blindness).
