Ascension Global Staffing & Execuitve Search is seeking a passionate, energetic, and driven Paralegal with 5+ years of recent criminal defense experience to join our team in defending high-stakes criminal cases nationwide.

This is not a back-office position. As a Paralegal on our team, you will be involved in every phase of a case, from the conference room to the war room to the courtroom. You will work closely with attorneys, experts, investigators, consultants, witnesses, vendors, and clients to prepare complex cases for hearings and trials.

We defend cases as a team. We are looking for someone who thrives in a collaborative environment, builds strong working relationships, and is ready to jump in when it matters most.

What You Will Do

  • Review, analyze, and organize discovery
  • Conduct research across social media, public records, and online databases
  • E-file pleadings via PACER and state court systems
  • Prepare subpoenas and monitor compliance and responses
  • Coordinate with experts, consultants, and witnesses
  • Gather and organize exhibits for hearings and trials
  • Prepare and manage witness and exhibit lists
  • Create PowerPoint presentations and trial visuals
  • Prepare tables of contents and authorities
  • Format, proofread, and finalize motions and briefs
  • Meet with clients, including incarcerated individuals
  • Communicate with government agencies, Clerk’s Offices, and Judicial Chambers
  • Manage calendars, deadlines, redactions, and Bates stamping
  • Travel overnight as needed for trial or case preparation

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of recent Criminal Paralegal experience (Required)
  • 3+ years of recent Criminal Trial experience (Required)
  • Litigation paralegal experience preparing cases for trial (civil or criminal)
  • Experience with eDiscovery platforms such as Relativity, Logikull, Everlaw, or similar
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Creating TOCs and TOAs
  • Formatting complex briefs
  • Managing exhibit lists
  • Building timelines
  • Creating trial presentations
  • Exceptional organizational skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines
  • Ability to work overtime when needed
  • Willingness and ability to travel for trial
  • Ability to meet with incarcerated clients
  • Notary certification preferred
  • Spanish-speaking is a plus, but not required
