A Fiberglass Finisher plays a critical role in ensuring the flawless creation of boat hulls and components. This position is ideal for someone with a strong eye for detail, hands-on experience in fiberglass repair, and a commitment to quality craftsmanship.
Position Overview
As a Fiberglass Finisher, you’ll be responsible for repairing and finishing fiberglass boat hulls, decks, and small parts. You’ll use a variety of tools and techniques to troubleshoot imperfections and deliver a high-quality final product. This role requires precision, teamwork, and a solid understanding of fiberglass finishing processes.
Essential Functions
- Perform repairs using spray guns, buffers, grinders, drills, and other specialty tools.
- Apply wax, polish, compound, fillers, putty, and paste to achieve a flawless finish.
- Inspect parts and ensure quality using abrasives and finishing techniques.
- Follow verbal and written instructions and provide status updates on part completion.
- Maintain safety and quality standards, including proper handling and disposal of chemicals.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Ability to read and understand blueprints
- Proficiency with hand and pneumatic tools, buffers, and abrasive sanders
- Fluent in English (spoken and written)
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Commitment to safety and proper use of PPE
Preferred Qualifications
- 2+ years of fiberglass finishing experience, ideally in the marine industry
- Experience in fiberglass repair and surface preparation
Work Environment
- Shop floor is non-climate controlled; temperatures vary with outdoor conditions
- Frequent exposure to heat, humidity, fiberglass dust, resins, and chemicals
- Moderate noise levels with occasional spikes
- Steel toe boots and PPE required
- Standing and walking for extended periods

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.50/hr.
