Director of Landscaping and Pest Control
The Director of Landscaping and Pest Control is responsible for overseeing all aspects of landscaping, grounds maintenance, and pest management across Lemontree Healthcare properties. This role ensures that outdoor spaces are safe, aesthetically pleasing, and environmentally compliant, while pest control operations meet health, safety, and regulatory standards appropriate for a healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Landscaping & Grounds Maintenance:
- Plan, implement, and manage landscaping design and maintenance programs for all facility grounds.
- Oversee lawn care, tree and shrub maintenance, seasonal planting, irrigation systems, and landscape enhancements.
- Supervise landscaping staff or contractors, ensuring high-quality workmanship and timeliness.
- Maintain outdoor walkways, patios, entrances, and parking areas to ensure safety and accessibility.
Pest Control Management:
- Develop and implement an Integrated Pest Management (IPM) program in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Coordinate regular inspections, treatments, and preventive measures to mitigate pest risks across all Lemontree Healthcare properties.
- Manage contracts with pest control vendors and ensure services are compliant with healthcare standards.
Administrative & Leadership:
- Prepare and manage the department’s budget, including cost control, supply purchasing, and vendor negotiations.
- Maintain detailed documentation and logs of landscaping and pest control activities, treatments, and inspections.
- Collaborate with Environmental Services (EVS), Nursing, and Facility Management to support a clean, safe, and therapeutic environment for residents and staff.
- Train staff on safety protocols and environmental procedures.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in grounds management, landscaping, or pest control, preferably in a healthcare, hospitality, or institutional setting.
- Supervisory or management experience required.
- Strong knowledge of landscaping best practices, horticulture, irrigation systems, and sustainable grounds maintenance.
- Certification in Pest Control or ability to obtain (e.g., State Pesticide Applicator License).
- Knowledge of healthcare safety standards (e.g., OSHA, EPA, Joint Commission).
- Excellent organizational, budgeting, and communication skills.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and handle physical demands.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Horticulture, Environmental Science, Facilities Management, or related field.
- Bilingual a plus (Spanish/English).
- Familiarity with senior living or healthcare facility operations.
Work Environment:
- Frequent walking, standing, lifting (up to 50 lbs), and use of outdoor equipment.
- Exposure to weather, chemicals, and mechanical tools.
- Must be available for emergency calls and after-hours issues as needed.
