Shift Leader Job Description


Position Overview:
The Shift Leader supports daily operations at the express car wash by overseeing staff performance and ensuring that all site functions run smoothly during assigned shifts. This role is responsible for maintaining service quality, ensuring all team members complete their duties correctly, and promoting consistent sales performance. The Shift Leader serves as the point of contact for employees during their shift and ensures a clean, efficient, and customer-focused operation.

Duties and Responsibilities:


Shift Oversight:

  • Supervise and support team members during assigned shifts to ensure all operational tasks are completed correctly and on time.
  • Monitor workflow throughout the shift to maintain an efficient wash process and positive customer experience.
  • Serve as the primary on-site point of contact when management is unavailable.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.

Customer Service:

  • Deliver exceptional customer service and set the standard for team interactions with guests.
  • Assist in resolving basic customer concerns or escalate issues to management when necessary.
  • Promote and explain wash packages and membership benefits to customers.

Sales & Performance:

  • Ensure all team members are consistently engaging customers and presenting membership options effectively.
  • Lead by example in upselling memberships, services, and promotions.
  • Track and communicate daily sales goals and performance updates to the team.

Team Support:

  • Provide direction and guidance to attendants to ensure consistent quality and productivity.
  • Assist with training new team members on wash procedures, customer service standards, and safety practices.
  • Foster a positive, team-oriented environment focused on customer satisfaction and operational excellence.

Facility Upkeep:

  • Ensure the wash tunnel, vacuum area, and customer zones remain clean and presentable.
  • Report equipment or facility issues promptly to management.
  • Support team efforts in maintaining site cleanliness and restocking supplies.

Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in a car wash, retail, or service environment.
  • Leadership experience or demonstrated ability to oversee team performance.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Sales-minded with a positive, customer-focused attitude.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Flexible availability, including weekends and holidays.

Compensation:


Total Compensation range for this position is $16/hr. + commission, based on experience.
