The Landscape Supervisor supports the Landscape Director in overseeing the community’s landscape operations, with a focus on daily supervision of staff, contractors, and maintenance activities. This role is responsible for ensuring that common areas are well-maintained, safe, and visually appealing while fostering a high level of service and resident satisfaction. The Landscape Supervisor also assists with irrigation management, vendor coordination, and seasonal projects, while mentoring team members and promoting CCMC’s core values of Integrity, Respect, Service, and Community.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise daily landscape operations, including the work of in-house staff, horticulturists, and contracted service providers.
- Inspect common areas regularly to ensure quality standards, safety, and adherence to community landscaping protocols.
- Support the Landscape Director in managing vendor contracts, monitoring performance, and coordinating seasonal projects and enhancements.
- Assist with irrigation oversight, including scheduling, monitoring system performance, and coordinating repairs.
- Train, mentor, and evaluate landscape personnel, ensuring productivity, safety, and adherence to best practices.
- Track and report daily activities, maintenance needs, and performance issues to the Landscape Director.
- Respond to resident inquiries and support customer service efforts related to landscaping.
- Ensure landscaped areas are prepared for community events, seasonal changes, and special projects.
REQUIREMENTS
- 2+ years of experience in landscape or grounds maintenance, including supervisory responsibilities
- Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to oversee staff and contractors
- Communication – Excellent verbal and written skills with the ability to interact effectively with residents, staff, and contractors.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; familiarity with irrigation management systems preferred
- Leadership and Team Supervision – Ability to guide, train, and evaluate staff while ensuring accountability and productivity
- Operational Oversight – Strong skills in coordinating daily work plans, inspections, and maintenance schedules
- Technical Knowledge – Demonstrated knowledge of horticulture, Florida plant species, irrigation system operations, and industry-standard grounds maintenance practices.
- Safety and Compliance – Commitment to safe work practices, preventative maintenance, and environmental standards
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, conduct inspections, and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Availability for occasional after-hours or weekend needs
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certified Irrigation Technician (CIT) or comparable certification
- Experience working with HOAs, golf courses, resorts, or large-scale residential communities
- Technology Proficiency – Familiarity with irrigation control systems and work order management software
- Problem-Solving – Ability to address issues quickly and implement effective solutions in the field
- Bilingual in English and Spanish
COMPETENCIES
- Execution & Results: Core to the role: supervising daily operations, ensuring quality, safety, and standards are consistently met. Ties directly to accountability for maintenance schedules, inspections, and project outcomes.
- Functional/Technical Skills: Strong horticulture, irrigation, and grounds maintenance knowledge is essential. Without this, the supervisor can’t effectively guide staff, evaluate work, or oversee contractors.
- Effective Communication:Required to interact with residents, staff, and vendors. Also, it is key for training, mentoring, and resolving issues in a service-oriented community setting.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The physical requirements can vary, but generally, they may include:
- Lifting: Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. occasionally (tools, equipment, or supplies).
- Mobility: Frequent walking, bending, kneeling, and climbing to perform inspections and oversee work in landscaped areas.
- Working Conditions: Primarily outdoors with exposure to heat, humidity, rain, and other seasonal weather conditions; occasional indoor office work for reporting and planning.
- Personal Protective Gear: Must use safety equipment such as gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, and sun protection as required.
- Extended Sitting/Standing: Prolonged periods of standing and walking during site inspections; occasional desk work requiring sitting at a computer.
- Manual Dexterity: Sufficient hand–eye coordination to operate tools, irrigation controls, small equipment, and computer systems.
- Driving: Requires a valid driver’s license; regular driving within the community and occasional travel for training, vendor meetings, or supply pickups. (Please note: We will request and review an MVR at the time of hire and on a periodic basis thereafter to ensure that employees maintain a satisfactory driving status.)
