Job description
We are a swimwear and coverup company based in Miami seeking a Technical Designer to join our team. This role is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, organized, and passionate about the apparel development process from concept to production.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the design team to develop technical packages (tech packs) including technical sketches, construction details, BOMs (Bills of Materials), measurement specs, garment grading, and label/graphic placements.
- Communicate directly with in-house teams and overseas vendors regarding garment specifications.
- Measure samples and size sets, comment on garment fit and functionality, and manage revisions until final approval.
- Participate in fit sessions on live models or dress forms to ensure the accuracy of fit, balance, and construction. Document necessary adjustments for tech pack updates.
- Maintain an organized system of prototype samples and version control for garments in development.
- Assist with product development tasks including adjusting sketches, updating BOMs, and ensuring production-ready documentation is complete and accurate.
- Manage and track multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines are met in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications:
- 2–5 years of technical design or product development experience in the apparel industry (swimwear experience is a plus).
- Associate's or Bachelor’s degree in Apparel Design, Product Development, or related field (or equivalent industry experience).
- Proficient in patternmaking, grading, garment construction, and understanding of large-scale manufacturing processes (especially overseas production).
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Microsoft Office.
- Experience with PLM systems for managing design specification packages.
- Ability to create and update detailed technical sketches.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and manage time effectively.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to work cross-functionally with design, production, and external partners.
- Proactive, detail-oriented, and flexible, with the ability to take on additional projects as needed.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to escalate complex issues when necessary.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 35 per week
