We are a busy and patient-focused medical practice committed to providing excellent care and professional support to our patients. We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Legal Assistant/receptionist to join our administrative team. This role supports legal, compliance, and medical-records functions within the practice.
Position Summary
The Legal Assistant will assist with legal documentation, medical record requests, compliance matters, and communication with attorneys, insurance companies, and patients. The ideal candidate has strong organizational skills, excellent communication abilities, and experience handling sensitive information with professionalism and confidentiality.
Responsibilities
- Assist with legal correspondence and document preparation
- Maintain accurate and organized records, logs, and case files
- Communicate with attorneys, insurers, and patients regarding documentation and case status.
- Coordinate review and release of protected health information (PHI)
- Support office administration, compliance efforts, and general clerical duties
- Track deadlines for documentation, billing, and follow-up
- Ensure all procedures comply with state and federal regulations
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Legal Assistant, Medical Legal Assistant, or similar role (preferred)
- Personal injury experience required (legal or medical office setting)
- Bilingual English & Spanish
- Experience in a medical or healthcare environment is a plus
- Strong understanding of HIPAA and confidentiality practices
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic computer systems
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
