Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
An opportunity is available for a dedicated special education teacher to lead an elementary self-contained classroom in Jacksonville, FL. This contract role spans from January 5, 2026, through May 28, 2026, providing instruction and support to students with diverse learning needs and exceptionalities. The position requires working on-site at one elementary school location within the Duval County Public Schools district.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and deliver tailored instruction to an elementary self-contained special education classroom
- Address varying learning levels and individual exceptionalities through customized teaching strategies
- Collaborate with school staff to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate with families as needed
- Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment to promote student growth
Qualifications and Experience:
- Active Florida certification in Exceptional Student Education (ESE)
- Valid certification in Elementary Education (K-6) or Early Childhood Education (PK-3) for general education
- Experience working with elementary students with special needs, preferably in a self-contained setting
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
- Commitment to student-centered educational practices
