Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to join our high-acuity Emergency Department team at HPMC, a Level 2 Trauma Center. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of ER nursing experience in comparable-sized healthcare facilities or emergency departments. This role demands clinical excellence, adaptability, and the ability to manage complex patient cases in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver safe, compassionate, and effective nursing care to a diverse patient population in the emergency department.
• Manage patient care with a nurse-to-patient ratio of approximately 3-4:1.
• Perform patient assessments, triage, and implement appropriate interventions in accordance with established protocols and physician orders.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure continuity of care and optimal patient outcomes.
• Document patient care accurately and timely using Epic EMR.
• Adhere to trauma protocols consistent with a Level 2 Trauma Facility.
• Participate in department initiatives, performance improvement, and safety protocols.
• Assist in educating patients and families regarding emergency care processes and discharge instructions.
• Be prepared and willing to float within the department and possibly to sister campuses, as needed.
• Demonstrate professionalism, teamwork, and flexibility in a demanding environment.

Required Qualifications:

• Current, active RN license.
• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Room nursing experience in hospitals or EDs of similar size and acuity.
• Experience working in a high-acuity ED with complex patients.
• Certification in BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS required.
• Experience with Epic EMR system.
• Ability to work with nurse-to-patient ratios of 3-4:1.
• Must reside within 50 miles radius of permanent address (Radius Rule).
• Flexibility to float within the unit and to sister campuses.
• Must submit full demographic information including address, email, DOB, SSN, and RN license number at time of application for verification.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) and Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) certifications.
• Prior travel nursing experience in emergency departments preferred.
