Job Summary:

As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will play a critical role in the design, implementation, and improvement of manufacturing processes for our boat production line. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the highest standards of quality, efficiency, and safety are met. This position offers progressive levels of responsibility, with Level 3 representing the highest level of expertise and leadership within the role.

Level 1: Manufacturing Engineer I

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development and optimization of manufacturing processes.
  • Participate in the design and layout of production workstations and assembly lines.
  • Support the implementation of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Conduct time studies and workflow analysis to identify areas for efficiency improvement.
  • Collaborate with the quality assurance team to ensure product standards are met.
  • Provide technical support to production staff and troubleshoot manufacturing issues.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of processes, procedures, and work instructions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 0–2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in boat manufacturing.
  • Basic knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, etc.); Rhino 3D experience preferred.
  • Exposure to Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM) software (e.g., Mastercam, Fusion 360, RhinoCAM) preferred.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Exposure to ERP systems is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Level 2: Manufacturing Engineer II

Responsibilities:

  • Lead process improvement projects and implement Lean Manufacturing techniques.
  • Develop and refine manufacturing processes to enhance productivity and reduce waste.
  • Analyze production data and implement corrective actions to address performance issues.
  • Design and validate tooling, fixtures, and equipment used in the production process.
  • Train and mentor production staff on new processes and equipment.
  • Collaborate with design and engineering teams to ensure manufacturability of new products.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to ensure the availability of quality materials and components.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 2–5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in boat manufacturing.
  • Proven experience in process improvement and project management.
  • Advanced knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Proficiency in Rhino 3D (required) with demonstrated ability to design, modify, and analyze parts and assemblies.
  • Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or equivalent CAD tools.
  • Proficiency with CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Fusion 360, RhinoCAM) to support toolpath generation and machining processes.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems for production planning and materials management.
  • Ability to create or modify simple scripts, macros, or parametric models within CAD software to streamline repetitive tasks.
  • Strong leadership and project management skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.

Level 3: Senior Manufacturing Engineer

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage complex manufacturing projects from concept to implementation.
  • Develop strategic plans to enhance manufacturing capabilities and capacity.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and foster a culture of operational excellence.
  • Evaluate and implement advanced manufacturing technologies and automation.
  • Collaborate with senior management to align manufacturing strategies with business goals.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to engineering and production teams.
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for complex manufacturing issues.
  • Develop and manage budgets for manufacturing projects and initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in boat manufacturing.
  • Extensive experience in process improvement, project management, and team leadership.
  • In-depth knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other advanced manufacturing methodologies.
  • Expert-level proficiency in Rhino 3D (required) with ability to drive parametric modeling, advanced surfacing, and integration with CAM workflows.
  • Deep experience with AutoCAD and other CAD/CAM platforms, including generating production-ready drawings and tool paths.
  • Advanced proficiency in CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Fusion 360, RhinoCAM), including optimization of machining strategies for composite and metal components.
  • Strong ERP and PLM system experience, including system optimization and integration with engineering workflows.
  • Experience with programming or automation tools (e.g., Python, Grasshopper for Rhino, or VBA macros) to enhance design efficiency and data transfer.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate with others both verbally and in writing.
  • Constantly operates a computer, phone, and other related office machinery.
  • Regularly required to sit; occasionally required to stand/walk/move about the office and factory.
  • Occasionally must lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.
  • Will be required to wear appropriate PPE if moving about the production areas.

Work Environment:

While most duties will be in an office environment, the employee may occasionally be exposed to fumes or airborne particles and moving mechanical parts when moving through production areas. Noise level in the production areas is moderate to loud and non-climate controlled.
