Job Title: Medical Assistant

Department: General Medicine/Primary Care/Family Medicine.

Reports To: Physician, Nurse Practitioner and/or Practice Manager

Summary:

We are seeking a Medical Assistant to become a part of our team! The Medical Assistant performs routine administrative and clinical assignments to keep the medical facility running smoothly. You will provide support to the physician and other healthcare providers in a medical setting. The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated and organized individual with a strong work ethic and a commitment to providing excellent patient care.

This is a friendly work environment dedicated to helping our patients, doing an honest day's work and being proud of where you work. You will be an important part of the medical team helping take care of a mature panel of patients with an age range of 8yrs old to 103 yrs old. Most patients have been part of the practice for over 10 years.

Responsibilities:

  • Clinical Duties:

    • Perform basic medical procedures, such as taking vital signs, drawing blood, and administering injections

    • Assist the physician with examinations and procedures

    • Prepare patients for examinations and procedures

    • Monitor patients' conditions and report changes to the physician

    • Collect and record patient information

    • Maintain medical records

  • Administrative Duties:

    • Schedule appointments

    • Answer the phone and direct patient calls

    • Greet patients and visitors

    • Handle insurance claims and billing

    • Maintain the medical office

  • Other Duties:

    • Keep up-to-date on medical terminology and procedures

    • Participate in continuing education programs

    • Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor at all times

Qualifications:

  • Education:

    • High school diploma or some college

    • Certification as a medical assistant through an accredited program

  • Experience:

    • Previous experience in healthcare administration or other related fields

    • Optimal: 1-2 years of experience as a medical assistant

  • Skills:

    • Have excellent EMR skills, especially with Athena EMR.

    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

    • Strong organizational and time management skills

    • Proficient in medical terminology and procedures

    • Ability to multitask and handle a fast-paced work environment

    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Certifications:

    • Medical Assistant Certification or ability to complete the MA course.
