Job Description

Position Title: Multi-Craft Maintenance Technician
Department: Maintenance – 1st Shift
Location: Panama City, FL
Reports to: Maintenance Manager
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

About Central Moloney:

At Central Moloney, we don’t just make transformers — we help power communities. For more than 40 years, our ISO 9001-certified team has built a reputation for innovation, reliability, and craftsmanship. Our products keep homes lit, schools running, and businesses moving forward across the country. We take pride in a culture where people roll up their sleeves, work together, and keep safety and quality at the heart of everything we do.

About the Role:

We’re looking for a hands-on Multi-Craft Maintenance Technician who can troubleshoot both mechanical systems and electrical equipment in a fast-paced transformer manufacturing environment. This role is about 80% mechanical maintenance and repair, with about 20% focused on commercial and industrial electrical troubleshooting. From keeping machines running smoothly to supporting continuous improvement projects, you’ll be part of a team that values your expertise, your ideas, and your commitment to doing the job right.

What You’ll Do:

As our Multi-Craft Maintenance Technician, you’ll be the go-to for keeping our equipment and facility in top shape. You’ll:

  • Stay ahead of downtime by performing preventive maintenance and routine inspections on production machinery.
  • Troubleshoot like a pro when mechanical or electrical issues pop up, getting equipment back online quickly.
  • Work with both low- and high-voltage electrical systems in a safe and compliant manner.
  • Install, align, replace, and fine-tune equipment components such as bearings, belts, pulleys, and gear systems.
  • Handle electrical tasks such as wiring, replacing lighting fixtures, and diagnosing electrical component failures.
  • Support plant-wide initiatives including 5S, safety programs, and continuous improvement projects.
  • Keep things documented — accurately recording maintenance work and sharing updates so the team is always in the loop.

What You Bring:

You don’t need to check every single box — if you’ve got a solid maintenance foundation and the drive to keep learning, we’d love to hear from you. Ideally, you have:

  • 1–3 years of hands-on maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • Strong mechanical skills (repairing and maintaining motors, gearboxes, hydraulics, pneumatics, etc.).
  • Foundational electrical knowledge — comfortable with both high- and low-voltage troubleshooting, wiring, and understanding schematics.
  • A knack for problem-solving and diagnosing root causes quickly.
  • Physical readiness: able to lift up to 50 lbs., work on ladders, and navigate a busy production floor.
  • Interest in continuous improvement practices such as 5S, Kaizen, or Lean.

Bonus Skills (Not Required, but a Plus)

  • Prior experience in a manufacturing or transformer facility.
  • Hands-on experience with variable frequency drives (VFDs).
  • Basic exposure to PLC troubleshooting.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Ability to work a full-time 1st shift schedule, including overtime or weekend coverage as needed.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted.

Physical and Environmental Requirements

  • Lifting: Able to lift 50 pounds unassisted.
  • Environment: Work in a facility with loud noise, extreme temperatures, and environmental stressors.
  • Physical Activities: Sit, stand, walk, bend, climb, crouch, reach, and grasp as needed.
  • PPE: Wear the required PPE, including eye and hearing protection, gloves, and safety toe footwear.
  • Dexterity and Vision: Manual dexterity and specific vision abilities (close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment).
  • Stamina: Stand for long shifts.
  • Skills: Effective communication, basic math skills, and teamwork.
  • Safety: Adhere to safety protocols and address hazards.

Benefits:

  • Competitive, comprehensive package including Medical, Dental, Life Insurance, 401(k), Retirement Plan, and more.
  • Company-paid health and dental coverage for employees — we invest in your well-being.
  • Opportunities to grow your skills, advance your career, and receive hands-on training.
