Job Description

The Repair & Maintenance Technician is responsible for the upkeep and repair of marina facilities, grounds, and equipment. This role performs a wide range of general maintenance tasks, including minor plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and building repairs, while supporting larger service needs with contractors. In addition, the technician supports daily operations by ensuring all areas remain clean, safe, and in excellent working condition. This role requires versatility, attention to detail, a strong commitment to safety, and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with the team.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Maintain a positive and professional demeanor when interacting with customers.
  • Communicate maintenance and repair needs promptly to department management for timely resolution.
  • Provide administrative and supervisory support to department management when required.
  • Carry out routine inspections and preventative maintenance on building systems and equipment.
  • Report maintenance and safety issues promptly to management and follow through on resolutions.
  • Ensure compliance with company safety standards and industry best practices, including use of PPE and safe equipment operation.
  • Repair and paint various indoor and outdoor surfaces to maintain appearance and functionality.
  • Conduct minor repairs on company machinery, and equipment.
  • Perform general handyman duties, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and painting repairs throughout marina facilities and grounds.
  • Assist with building cleaning needs in coordination with contracted cleaning service.
  • Perform daily trash collection as directed.
  • Conduct minor HVAC repairs and assist with coordinating professional servicing for larger needs.
  • Repair and maintain indoor and outdoor structures, including drywall patching, painting, and surface restoration.
  • Support events by assisting with setup, breakdown, and ensuring spaces are returned to proper condition.
  • Support upkeep of outdoor areas by mowing grass, trimming shrubs, and performing general landscaping.
  • Perform minor asphalt patching and repairs on facility roads and parking areas.
  • Safely operate company vehicles, forklifts, and other equipment to assist with transporting materials and completing maintenance tasks.

Required Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • At least 3 year facilities maintenance experience

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Requires climbing, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, and twisting
  • Requires the ability to use speech, vision and hearing
  • Requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations
  • Requires the ability to lift, carry, push or pull up to 75 pounds
  • Exposure to changes in temperature and humidity

Work performed indoors and out in a marine environment. (This includes adverse weather conditions.)

Physical hazards include marine cargo handling equipment and vehicles, rail traffic, electrical panels, working in confined spaces, and exposure to variable levels of air particulates; i.e. soda ash, potash, and grain dust.

May have to lift heavy equipment or materials up to 75 pounds.
