Nutrition Team Lead
Job Summary:
The Nutrition Team Lead provides expert consultation, oversight, and training to support the effective delivery of public health nutrition services. This position plays a critical role in program development, staff training, quality assurance, and policy implementation. The consultant works collaboratively with regional and central office teams to ensure services are compliant with state and federal regulations, meet professional standards, and reflect best practices in nutrition and public health.
Functions:
Program Development & Policy Implementation
- Serve as a technical expert in dietetics, public health policy, and regulatory compliance.
- Assist in the development and refinement of internal policies and procedures.
- Provide consultative support to regional and local agency staff on policy interpretation and implementation.
- Contribute to the design and structure of healthcare programs to support service goals and team operations.
Training & Staff Development
- Develop and deliver comprehensive orientation and ongoing training for staff, including course materials, visual aids, and curriculum.
- Assist in the training and supervision of dietetic interns, medical and nursing students.
- Monitor staff proficiency and ensure completion of competency-based training programs.
- Collaborate with training leads to create individualized orientation plans and evaluate staff performance during onboarding.
Quality Assurance & Evaluation
- Conduct documentation reviews, chart audits, lab audits, and direct observations to ensure service quality and compliance.
- Analyze findings and recommend changes to improve provider systems and community service delivery.
- Partner with the data analysis team and central office to evaluate program outcomes and monitor service quality.
Supervision & Performance Oversight
- Provide guidance and informal supervision to program staff.
- Review and provide input on staff performance in collaboration with Dietitian Managers.
- Ensure staff practice within their legal scope and follow evidence-based guidelines.
- Ensure appropriate consultation with Licensed Nutritionists by local agency staff.
Participant Services
- Provide direct services to participants by conducting WIC appointments and performing case management services in coordination with regional manager.
Innovation & Technology Integration
- Identify and promote opportunities to implement new technologies and methods that improve program efficiency and service delivery.
- Stay up to date on technology, policy, and practice changes and communicate updates to team members.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Participate in workgroups and implementation teams related to OFNS and broader public health initiatives.
- Support the implementation of new processes and technology in collaboration with regional and program staff.
Qualifications:
Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN) credential preferred. Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, Public Health, or related field and or a minimum of 3 years of experience in public health, or healthcare program management.
Strong knowledge of healthcare policies, evidence-based practices, and nutrition program regulations, ? experience with staff training, performance evaluation, and quality improvement initiatives. Excellent communication, presentation, and organizational skills. Proficiency in using data to support decision-making and quality monitoring.
