Job Description

The Power Electronics Engineer will design and validate power electronic hardware for electric drive and energy distribution in robotic and autonomous platforms. This includes high-voltage/high-current circuits, switching elements, and protection schemes, with a focus on robustness, efficiency, and manufacturability

Key Responsibilities

  • Design power distribution, switching, and protection circuits for electric drive and energy systems (e.g., contactors, MOSFET/IGBT stages, fusing, transient protection).
  • Specify and select components for high-voltage / high-current applications.
  • Develop independent sensing and protection schemes (current, voltage, temperature) and interface them to control units.
  • Create schematics, perform PCB design or review, and produce supporting documentation for manufacturing.
  • Work with mechanical engineers on packaging, heat sinking, and thermal management solutions.
  • Support lab bring-up, validation, and reliability testing, including thermal, EMC, and vibration testing.
  • Assist in root-cause analysis and continuous improvement of power hardware designs.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in power electronics design (motor drives, DC-DC converters, HV distribution, or similar).
  • Strong knowledge of HV safety, insulation, creepage/clearance, and protection devices.
  • Experience with circuit simulation and PCB design tools (e.g., SPICE, Altium, OrCAD, or equivalent).
  • Ability to work hands-on in the lab with high-voltage systems in a safe manner.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in electric vehicle, battery systems, or robotics powertrain development.
