Job Summary: The Industrial Automation & Maintenance Technician is a highly skilled, technical role responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving automated manufacturing equipment and industrial systems. This position combines hands-on mechanical and electrical maintenance with PLC, controls, and automation expertise to ensure optimal equipment performance, minimal downtime, and continuous production efficiency.
This role supports preventive maintenance, advanced troubleshooting, system upgrades, and new equipment commissioning while adhering to strict safety, quality, and operational standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Industrial Maintenance & Equipment Reliability
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on industrial machinery, automated equipment, and production systems.
- Inspect, clean, lubricate, align, and adjust mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic components.
- Diagnose and repair motors, drives, bearings, actuators, shafts, and high-load components.
- Perform welding, fabrication, plumbing, or mechanical repairs as required.
- Use precision diagnostic and alignment tools to ensure optimal equipment performance.
Automation, PLC & Controls Systems
- Install, configure, program, and troubleshoot PLC systems and industrial automation hardware.
- Work with PLC platforms such as Beckhoff, Siemens, or equivalent.
- Read and interpret PLC I/O maps, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and blueprints.
- Install and troubleshoot VFDs, control panels, sensors, relays, and motor control systems.
- Support and maintain HMI and SCADA systems.
- Troubleshoot industrial communication networks including Ethernet, EtherCAT, Profibus, DeviceNet, or similar protocols.
Troubleshooting & Continuous Improvement
- Perform advanced troubleshooting to identify root causes of equipment failures.
- Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and recommend long-term corrective actions.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability, safety, and efficiency.
- Assist in equipment upgrades, rebuilds, and process optimization projects.
Project Support & Commissioning
- Support or lead installation, commissioning, and startup of new machinery and automation systems.
- Assist with equipment rebuilds, retrofits, and automation upgrades.
- Collaborate with vendors, engineers, and internal teams during project execution.
Documentation & Systems
- Document all maintenance activities, PLC changes, repairs, and parts usage accurately.
- Maintain records in CMMS systems, including asset history and preventive maintenance schedules.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, regulatory standards, and quality requirements.
- Ability to modify, update, and maintain electrical schematics and control drawings, ensuring accuracy reflects field changes, upgrades, and PLC or controls modifications.
- Ensure electrical documentation remains current and compliant with internal standards, safety requirements, and regulatory guidelines.
Safety & Compliance
- Strictly follow all safety policies, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
- Identify and report safety hazards, incidents, or near-misses immediately.
- Ensure work is performed in compliance with OSHA, company, and industry safety standards.
Team Collaboration & Leadership
- Work independently or collaboratively with maintenance and production teams.
- Provide technical guidance or mentoring to junior maintenance staff as needed.
- Communicate clearly with supervisors regarding equipment status, risks, and priorities.
Qualifications
Education & Training
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Technical certification or vocational training in Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, Automation, Electrical, or Mechanical Systems preferred.
Experience
- Proven experience in industrial maintenance and automation within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong hands-on experience with PLC systems, controls, and automated equipment.
Technical Skills
- Advanced mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic troubleshooting.
- PLC programming, diagnostics, and system updates.
- Ability to read and interpret complex technical documentation.
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and CMMS systems.
- Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with three-phase electrical systems, including power distribution, motor controls, and industrial equipment applications.
- Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and safely work on low- and high-voltage three-phase systems, including motors, VFDs, and control panels.
- Understanding of electrical load balancing, protection devices, and safe work practices in industrial environments.

Reporting: Maintenance Manager
Schedule: Monday to Friday with an on-site hybrid schedule (5:00AM to 1:30PM or 1:30PM to 10:30PM)
