Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for performing preventive maintenance (PM) tasks on a variety of heavy equipment, company vehicles, assisting vendors with major repairs, and supporting the overall upkeep of our fleet in various locations. You will work closely with the Fleet Coordinator to ensure equipment ismaintained to the highest standards, and that scheduling and certification processes are efficiently managed. Additionally, the role involves assisting in equipment painting and performing routine checks such as fuel measurement.

Key Responsibilities:
- Preventive Maintenance (PM):Perform routine maintenance tasks on heavy equipment, ensuring they operate efficiently and are in compliance with safety standards.
- Vendor Assistance:Collaborate with external vendors for more complex repairs, providing assistance when needed to ensure smooth operations and timely completion of major repairs.
- Equipment Painting:Handle equipment painting tasks to maintain the appearance and integrity of fleet assets.
- Fuel Management:Measure and monitor fuel levels in equipment to ensure accurate fuel management and prevent operational disruptions.
- Fleet Support:Work closely with the Fleet Coordinator to track certification and inspections of equipment and ensure compliance with all regulations.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and inspections to support compliance and operational needs.
- Safety:Adhere to safety protocols and practices when operating tools and machinery, ensuring a safe working environment for all team members.
- Equipment Inspections:Conduct routine inspections of equipment to identify and address any potential issues before they become major problems.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (technical certification or vocational training in heavy equipment mechanics is a plus).
- Proven experience working as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic or in a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of preventive maintenance practices and mechanical troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with heavy equipment in the maritime industry, such as top loaders, forklifts, , cranes, etc.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to assist vendors and contractors as needed for more complex repairs.
- Valid drivers license (commercial drivers license preferred but not required).
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions and lift heavy objects when necessary.
Additional Skills (Preferred):
- Previous experience with fleet management software or systems.
- Familiarity with safety regulations and certifications for heavy equipment.
- Experience in equipment painting or finishing.
Work Environment:
- This position will be based in an outdoor environment with exposure to varying weather conditions and noise levels.
- Work will involve physical labor, including lifting and maneuvering heavy tools and equipment.
