Job Description

The HVAC tech is responsible for performing highly skilled maintenance and repair duties for the property, including but not limited to chillers, boilers, pumps, air handler's controls, walk-in freezers, and coolers.

Essential Functions

  • Make repairs to air conditioners – change filters, clean coils, replace blower motors, etc.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on HVAC systems, replace HVAC compressors.
  • Take chiller readings and water samples.
  • Test tower water and record data.
  • Check and replace pumps.
  • Adjust chemical pumps as required.
  • Perform plumbing repairs – open clogged drains, change FET washers, stems seats, cartridges, handles, drain fittings, etc.
  • Understand blueprints and wiring diagrams.
  • Maintain preventive maintenance of HVAC systems
  • Repair kitchen equipment.
  • Analyze, repair and install chillers, boilers, controls, walk-in coolers and freezers, reach-in coolers and freezers, pumps, ice makers, compressors, expansion valves, and electric motors.
  • Clean pool pump room.
  • Assist in supervising other maintenance staff
  • Assist in scheduling of preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Maintain pool and spa – clean, vacuum, adjust chemical levels, change valves, and replace filters.
  • Approach all encounters with guests and employees in a friendly, service- oriented manner.
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which include adhering to the proper dress code and wearing a name tag while working.
  • Perform any other duties assign by his/her manager.

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standards office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.

The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days vary based on business needs. This includes weekends, holidays, evenings and/or overnight shifts.

Required Education and Experience

  • A minimum of (4) years of relevant HVAC tech experience.
  • A minimum of (2) year of experience in a hotel environment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • EPA I, II, or Universal certification needed.
  • Refrigeration, electrical and plumbing skills, boiler operation and maintenance skills, water treatment and chiller operation knowledge.
  • Refrigeration license required.
  • Highly responsible and reliable.
  • Ability to work cohesively as part of a team.
  • Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining call and courteous at all times.
  • Flexible schedule. Able to work weekends and holidays.
