Position Summary
The Ultrasound Technician/Sonographer will perform diagnostic ultrasound procedures focused on urologic conditions. This role requires proficiency in urology-related sonography (renal, bladder, prostate, testicular, and related studies), attention to detail, and excellent patient care skills. The sonographer will work closely with urologists and clinical staff to ensure quality imaging and efficient workflow within the practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform ultrasound examinations including renal, bladder, scrotal, prostate (transabdominal and transrectal), and other urology-focused studies.
- Prepare patients for procedures, explain the process, and ensure patient comfort throughout the exam.
- Operate ultrasound equipment to capture accurate diagnostic images for physician interpretation.
- Assist with ultrasound-guided procedures, such as prostate biopsies, as directed by the physician.
- Collaborate with urologists to ensure imaging accuracy and support clinical decision-making.
- Maintain ultrasound equipment, perform routine checks, and report technical issues.
- Document patient information and imaging results accurately in electronic medical records (EMR).
- Follow all safety, infection control, and practice protocols.
- Support a professional and patient-friendly environment.
Requirements:
Qualifications
- Completion of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program.
- ARDMS certification required (preferably in Abdomen/Small Parts or specialty relevant to urology).
- Experience in urology or men’s health imaging strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of ultrasound-guided procedures (e.g., prostate biopsy) a plus.
- Excellent interpersonal and patient care skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced specialty practice environment.
