About the Role:
The Facilities Support role is essential in maintaining a safe, clean, and efficient environment within the school. This position ensures that all physical aspects of the facility, including buildings, grounds, and equipment, are properly maintained and operational to support the educational mission. The role involves coordinating with various departments to address maintenance needs, manage repairs, and oversee facility-related projects. Facilities Support professionals play a critical role in compliance with safety regulations and contribute to creating a welcoming atmosphere for students, staff, and visitors. Ultimately, this position helps to sustain an environment conducive to learning and institutional success through proactive facility management and responsive support.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic knowledge of building maintenance and repair techniques.
- Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
- Strong communication skills to interact with staff, vendors, and contractors.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Technical certification in facilities management, HVAC, electrical, or plumbing.
- Experience working in an educational or institutional environment.
- Familiarity with safety regulations such as OSHA standards.
- Proficiency with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
- Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physically demanding tasks.
Responsibilities:
- Perform routine inspections and maintenance of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and structural components.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and coordinate repairs to minimize disruption to educational activities.
- Manage inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment, ensuring availability and proper storage.
- Collaborate with external contractors and vendors for specialized repairs and facility upgrades.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements by conducting regular safety audits and reporting hazards.
- Assist in the setup and breakdown of facilities for events, meetings, and other institutional functions.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, work orders, and facility conditions.
Skills:
The Facilities Support role requires practical skills in troubleshooting and repairing various building systems to ensure continuous operation. Effective communication skills are used daily to coordinate with staff and external service providers, ensuring maintenance tasks are completed efficiently. Organizational skills help manage multiple work orders and maintenance schedules, prioritizing tasks to meet urgent needs. Knowledge of safety protocols is applied to maintain a secure environment and comply with regulatory standards. Additionally, technical skills in using maintenance tools and software systems support accurate record-keeping and streamlined facility operations.
