Position Summary
The Medical Scribe supports primary care providers by accurately documenting patient encounters in the electronic health record (EHR). This role helps improve provider efficiency, enhances documentation quality, and supports the delivery of high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities

Accompany the provider during patient visits and accurately document medical histories, review of systems, physical exams, assessments, and plans in the EHR

Enter orders, referrals, and prescriptions as directed by the provider

Ensure documentation is completed in a timely, accurate, and professional manner

Assist with chart preparation prior to patient visits and follow-up documentation after visits

Maintain strict patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and other regulatory requirements

Communicate effectively with providers and clinical staff to support workflow efficiency

Review charts for completeness and accuracy before provider sign-off
Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework or degree in a healthcare-related field preferred

Previous experience as a medical scribe or in a clinical setting preferred (training may be provided)

Knowledge of medical terminology and basic clinical concepts

Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems preferred

Ability to type efficiently and accurately
