The Karol Hotel is a boutique hotel located in the Feather Sound area of Clearwater Florida, convenient to the beaches, St Pete, and Tampa. The Karol features 123 rooms and suites, and features Katch Restaurant and Vantage Rooftop Bar, along with ballrooms and conference rooms to host events. The Karol Hotel is part of Marriott Tribute Portfolio.

The Host at The Karol Hotel will be responsible for greeting and seating all guests in the restaurant to ensure each guest is welcomed with a warm, friendly, and enthusiastic greeting and that they are seated as quickly as possible to start their dining experience. This is a part-time position with the potential to grow into a full-time position based on performance and business needs. We're looking for someone with open availability for morning and evening shifts, including weekends.

Essential Functions

  • Welcome each guest genuinely and seat them as quickly as possible
  • Maintain reservations on OpenTable
  • Ability to converse with guests to make them feel comfortable if there is a wait for tables
  • Use a rotation method to ensure seating is fair
  • Report to work on time and in proper uniform/approved attire
  • Work as a team with all team members within the hotel
  • Check greeter station assigned for cleanliness of area
  • Ensure the front of the restaurant is clean and all objects are dust free
  • Check all tables to ensure they are set up and ready to be seated with guests
  • Communicate to servers when seating tables
  • Assist servers when necessary
  • Drive forward children dining initiatives by ensuring children are taken care of with proper activities and assisting with scheduling kitchen tours as applicable
  • Have knowledge of all areas within the hotel
  • Ability to communicate to managers the flow of the restaurant
  • Quote accurate wait times
  • Watch the flow of the restaurant
  • Knowledge of menu and wine to assist guests with questions and or suggestions
  • Detail tables and remove items not in use, e.g. seating a party of two at a four top, the extra place settings should be removed
  • Attend monthly department meetings and daily stand ups
  • Perform other duties as management requests to service our guests.
  • Ability to use POS (point of sale) system
  • Take ownership of the restaurant
  • Assist managers with daily duties such as scheduling of stations
  • Follow the procedures addressed in the training manual

Hotel Performance

  • Ensure successful performance assisting guests with an exceptional experience to ensure high performing scores on the Marriott's Guest Satisfaction Survey

Qualification Standards

Education & Experience

  • At least 18 years of age
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to use technology e.g. tablets, iPads
  • Ability to assist with menu revisions when needed

Physical Demands

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to communicate clearly
  • Ability to lift 20 lbs. or more
  • Corrected vision to normal range
  • Long hours sometimes required
  • Ability to work afternoon and evening
