What You’ll Do?

As ADON, you will be a vital member of the nursing leadership team, working in close collaboration with the Director of Nursing and providing both administrative and management support. You will also serve as the Infection Prevention Coordinator.

The ADON serves as the lead for all educational and orientation programs within the Skilled Care Center. This includes developing, implementing, and evaluating comprehensive orientation for new staff, as well as ongoing in-service and clinical education to ensure compliance with State, Federal, Corporate, and facility regulations. The ADON also leads the infection control program across all levels of living—Health Center, Assisted Living, and Memory Care, ensuring regulatory compliance and providing required training to nursing staff.

Responsibilities include:

Infection Control

  1. Develops, implements, and evaluates the infection control program as a designated infection prevention professional to comply with state and federal regulations and OSHA requirements for the Health Center, ALF, and Memory Care, and to provide training to nursing staff and other departments per state and federal guideline requirements.
  2. Works cohesively as the community liaison with the county epidemiology department for additional recommendations when a community outbreak occurs.
  3. Makes routine rounds to ensure proper infection control practices are in place and proper care and services are being provided to our residents.

4. Monitors/Coordinates/documents flu vaccination program for the Community.

5. Implement programs to protect employees, visitors, and residents.

Nursing Management

  1. Supervises nursing personnel on all shifts. Participates in staffing, scheduling, counseling, orientation, and evaluation of nursing staff.
  1. Participates in family/resident counseling.
  2. Respond to emergency calls as necessary.
  3. Serves as the Director of Nursing in their absence and supports the DON with key management responsibilities. These include ensuring ongoing compliance with federal and state regulations, overseeing daily clinical operations, monitoring clinical systems, and participating in the recruitment, hiring, performance evaluation, and disciplinary actions.
  4. Assures effective communication with other shifts and departments as it relates to resident care.
  5. Provides on-call support during off-shift hours and weekends, as needed, based on the needs of the community. Shares every other weekend on-call responsibilities with the Director of Nursing.
  6. Serves on and actively participates in the QAPI committee.

Training

  1. Design, implement, and maintain a comprehensive training program for all new and existing staff, contracted service providers, and volunteers, aligned with the responsibilities and expectations of their respective roles.
  1. Develop, implement, and provide a 12-month in-service calendar that includes mandatory in-services per state and federal regulations.


What We’re Looking For:

  • RN and is currently licensed in the State of Florida.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Infection Control Certification
  • Geriatric/rehabilitation experience with a good understanding of restorative nursing
  • Supervisory experience is preferred
  • Must have long-term care management experience

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:

Frequent standing, stooping, bending, stretching, squatting; must be able to stand/walk for up to 70% of the workday; must be able to lift, transfer, turn, and position residents weighing up to 125 lbs. unassisted, or with the assistance of one for a resident weighing over 125 lbs. May be subjected to offensive odors and combative behavior. Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 lbs. frequently, and 50 lbs. occasionally. May be exposed to communicable diseases, including the HIV and HBV viruses. Must be able to work, paying close attention to detail with frequent interruptions.
