Job Description
Our team is partnering with a well-established Palm Beach County law firm to identify a Legal Assistant/Paralegal for an IP-focused position, supporting attorneys handling trademark, patent, copyright and related matters. This role offers broad exposure to filings, docketing and portfolio maintenance.
Role Overview:
You’ll play a pivotal role in day-to-day case management by tracking critical deadlines, preparing filings, and maintaining both electronic and hard-copy files. You’ll work closely with multiple attorneys to ensure smooth operations across all stages of prosecution and maintenance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Calendar and monitor deadlines for filings, renewals and office-action responses
- Prepare and submit trademark, patent and copyright applications and renewals
- Assist with clearance searches and follow-up on opposition or cancellation proceedings
- Draft correspondence, fee invoices and responses to office actions
- Organize and update client IP files and entry into docketing systems
Desired Qualifications:
- Paralegal certification preferred; bachelor’s degree a plus (neither is required)
- Prior IP legal assistant/paralegal experience or strong interest in transitioning into IP
- Familiarity with e-filing portals and docketing software
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
