Job Summary:
Provides in-home and office based therapy with children 5-17 years of age, at risk of abuse and neglect and Counseling with their Parents or Caregivers. Coordinates with the Family Care Counselor the need to Psychiatric Evaluations and Medication Management.
Makes referrals to the JFCS Counseling Department for any needed Psychiatric Services.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Masters degree in Social Work , Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy or related field from an accredited college or university
Experience: Two years experience counseling children and families is required. Therapists must have knowledge and skills in: Medicaid; in-home therapy; identification of abused and neglected children and adults; child development, individual and family functioning; substance abuse; postpartum/maternal depression; PTSD; working with hard to reach or resistant individuals and families; collaborating with other disciplines and services; skills in group dynamics and leading group discussions
Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration: Licensed, or License Eligible, in the State of Florida (Registered Intern, LCSW, LMHC, or LMFT). Training/certification in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and/or Child-Parent Psychotherapy preferred.
Primary Job Functions:
- Provide in-home, in person or telehealth therapy to individuals, children and families.
- Provide supportive case management to families on caseload to ensure the safety of children in the home and improve family well-being.
- Maintain in home visitation with child, parent and siblings, including anyone in the family unit - minimum of one hour weekly home visits.
- Complete assessments on children and families, providing recommendations for treatment and support for child and family members.
- Works with all staff involved to ensure services are delivered in support of the family's case plan
- Attend staffing and Court Hearings as requested.
- Maintain an electronic calendar of scheduled appointments.
- Provide professional case consultation to professionals involved in client’s case.
- Prepare reports & documentation in compliance with contracts.
- Refer clients to appropriate community resources and organizations.
- Maintain client files (including electronic records) according to Medicaid and program standards.
- Works cooperatively as part of a team.
- Provide testimony or documentation for court hearings regarding clinical observations (as requested).
- Attend professional training required by JFCS.
- Attend monthly staff meetings and one-on-one weekly supervision.
- Follow professional ethical guidelines.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
