SLP license in Florida (Required)
Requirements of Speech Language Pathologist:
- Masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
- Current Florida licensure or eligibility as a Speech Language Pathologist.
- Preferred: Experience in acute care settings.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, patient care practices, and geriatric therapy techniques.
- Strong understanding of anatomy and physiology related to speech, language, and swallowing disorders.
- Skilled in conducting assessments and developing individualized treatment plans.
- Excellent verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
Responsibilities of Speech Language Pathologist:
- Assess, diagnose, and treat patients with communication and swallowing disorders.
- Work with patients of all ages in hospitals, clinics, and pediatric care settings.
- Conduct comprehensive evaluations of speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing abilities.
- Develop individualized treatment plans tailored to patient needs.
- Provide therapy sessions to improve communication skills: articulation, comprehension, expression, voice, fluency, and pragmatics.
- Administer standardized assessments, monitor progress, and adjust treatment plans.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals for coordinated care.
- Educate patients and families on communication and swallowing strategies.
- Document patient progress accurately and maintain detailed records.
