Position Summary

The Guest Experience Manager supports the development, delivery, evaluation, and overall quality of the Science Center’s public programming and community outreach initiatives. This position plays a key role in connecting guests with meaningful, hands-on STEM learning through daily activities, demonstrations, seasonal programs, and events.

The Guest Experience Manager will lead program creation and educator facilitation for existing exhibit-based experiences such as the Anatomage Table, STEAM Cart, Amphitheater, Flight Simulators, and the Explorers Cove Early Learning Area. They will also plan and build innovative new programs for the Science Center’s expansion, including (but not limited to) the Immersive Learning Lab, Digital Exhibit Gallery, Humanoid Robots, Auditorium, STEAM Studio, and potential Aquarium interactives.

This role also oversees the development and implementation of surveys, data collection, and evaluation tools to assess program quality, guest satisfaction, and learning impact.

The position supervises and mentors Guest Experience Educators, volunteers, and interns while ensuring that all programming aligns with the Science Center’s purpose to “Open Every Mind to Science.”

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Educational & Public Engagement

· Research, develop, prepare, and deliver engaging science activities, workshops, demonstrations, and programs for guests of all ages.

· Create, implement, and supervise programs and daily exhibit experiences, including those involving the Anatomage Table, Amphitheater, Flight Simulator, and the Explorers Cove Early Learning Area.

· Facilitate daily public programs, including science demonstrations, planetarium shows, amphitheater presentations, STEM story times, STEAM cart activities, and technology exhibits.

· Design and develop new programs for expansion spaces, including (but not limited to) the Immersive Learning Lab, Digital Exhibit Gallery, Humanoid Robots, Auditorium, STEAM Studio, and potential Aquarium interactives.

· Collaborate on special events and grant-funded programming such as Tis the Season, Art of Science, Discovery Tales, Wonder Days, and seasonal break activities.

· Communicate with community partners to support and coordinate programming.

· Interact with guests in a professional, courteous, and enthusiastic manner to promote curiosity and interest in STEM learning.

· Provide a positive, inclusive, and engaging atmosphere for all guests.

Program Operations, Evaluation & Logistics

· Oversee planning, inventory, organization, and storage of materials used in daily and seasonal programming.

· Manage operational needs, training, and quality standards for educator-led exhibit programs.

· Support off-site outreach operations and coordinate logistics for events such as ArtiGras, the South Florida Fair, partner-hosted activities and more.

· Develop, implement, and manage surveys, feedback tools, and data-collection methods to evaluate program effectiveness, guest experience, and learning outcomes.

· Collect, analyze, and report data to inform program improvements and support grant reporting.

· Ensure all on-site and off-site programs reflect the Science Center’s mission and maintain high standards of STEM engagement.

· Coordinate volunteer tasks and scheduling with the Events Manager.

· Assist with setup and breakdown of activities, programs, and special events.

· Adhere to all Science Center policies, procedures, and safety standards.

· Perform additional duties as assigned to support the Community Engagement & Education Department as programs expand.

Teamwork & Communication

· Provide leadership, coaching, and daily supervision for Guest Experience Educators to ensure high-quality engagement and consistent program delivery.

· Prepare reports for the Education Board Committee on Guest Experience Programming.

· Track and report metrics to the Director of Development for grant-funded programs.

· Maintain clear communication with staff, supervisors, and volunteers regarding program needs, visitor experience goals, and operational updates.

· Communicate effectively and courteously with children, adults, and coworkers.

· Promote a cooperative, accountable, and creative team environment.

· Maintain an organized, safe, and efficient workspace.


Qualifications

· Minimum of 3 years of experience in educational programming, science, or technology; bachelor’s degree preferred.

· Strong interest in public education, public speaking, and STEM/STEAM programming.

· Creativity, enthusiasm, and strong ability to engage guests through hands-on learning; theater experience is a plus.

· Comfort working with chemicals, tools, craft materials, and small animals as needed.

· Proficiency with computers and basic data-tracking tools; experience with survey or evaluation software is a plus.

Physical Requirements

· Must be able to lift up to 80 pounds.

· Must be able to stand or move for extended periods while facilitating programs.

Commitment

· This is a full-time, non-exempt position with the ability to work a flexible schedule, including a weekend day, holidays, and occasional evening hours as needed
