Your Opportunity:
This is a full-time, in person position reporting to the President of Operations.
The Middleware Architect will own the architecture, design, and delivery of middleware solutions that power MyBambus product integrations frompayment processors and remittance partnerstoKYC/AML vendors and compliance systems. This role will ensure all integrations aresecure, scalable, and compliant, while also enabling rapid partner onboarding and faster product launches.
Key Responsibilities
Integration Architecture
- Design and maintain themiddleware layerconnecting MyBambus backend with:
- Remittance providers (TransNetwork, MoneyGram, RIAand others)
- Payment processors (Worldpay, TabaPay, Visa Direct)
- KYC/AML and compliance tools (Plaid, Alloy, Socure)
- Digital wallet services (Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, Venmo)
- Define and standardizeAPI contracts, message queues, and data flowsfor all integrations.
Development & Implementation
- BuildREST/GraphQL APIs and microservicesto connect mobile apps, back-office systems, and third-party vendors.
- Implementasynchronous processing and message queuing(AWS SQS/SNS, Kafka) for high-volume transaction flows.
- EnsurePCI DSS, SOC2, and AML/KYCcompliance is embedded in the integration process.
- Develop fault-tolerant and retry mechanisms for critical financial transactions.
Performance & Monitoring
- Set upreal-time monitoring, logging, and alertingfor integration health (CloudWatch, New Relic).
- Optimize API performance forlow-latency remittances and payment processing.
- Conduct post-incident reviews and improve resilience.
Collaboration & Leadership
- Work closely withProduct Managersto define technical requirements for new fintech products.
- Partner withComplianceto ensure all integrations meet regulatory requirements.
- Providetechnical leadershipto internal and offshore development teams, ensuring quality and consistency in integration code.
- Evaluate and recommend middleware tools (API gateways, orchestration platforms) to improve partner onboarding speed.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- 7+ years of software engineering experience, with 3+ years in middleware/integration architecture.
- Strong expertise inPython, Node.js, or similar for API development.
- Proficiency inAWS services(Lambda, API Gateway, SQS/SNS, S3, CloudWatch) and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).
- Deep knowledge ofAPI design, event-driven architecture, and microservices patterns.
- Experience withfintech integrations(payments, remittances, KYC/AML).
- Strong understanding of compliance/security in regulated financial environments.
Preferred:
- Hands-on experience withWorldpay, TabaPay, Visa Direct, or similar payment rails.
- Knowledge ofopen banking standardsand ISO 20022 messaging.
- Familiarity with mobile wallet integration (Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, Venmo).
- Bilingual English/Spanish a plus.
