Job Title: Diesel Mechanic

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled diesel mechanic to perform preventative maintenance on our fleet of cement trucks and plant equipment. The role involves assisting lead mechanics with maintenance and repair tasks, both in our company shop and on public roadways, to ensure maximum equipment availability through efficient preventative maintenance programs. Responsibilities also include changing brakes, oil, and filters on trucks, maintaining and performing minor repairs on equipment such as forklifts and pneumatic tools, and logging completed work.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance on mobile cement trucks and plant equipment.
• Assist lead mechanics with maintenance and repair of various mobile equipment.
• Change brakes, oil, and filters on trucks.
• Maintain and perform minor repairs on equipment like forklifts and pneumatic tools.
• Log completed work accurately.

Essential Skills

• At least 2 years of experience in preventative maintenance on vehicles and/or trucks.
• Experience in diagnosing and repairing hydraulic systems, suspensions, drive-train components, air conditioning, air brakes, computer diagnostics, and basic electrical systems.
• Strong mechanical skills and problem-solving ability.
• Ability to lift and carry at least 50 lbs. and occasionally up to 100 lbs.
• Possession of required minimal tool list.
• Ability to work overtime as needed.
• Capability to perform duties on catwalks, at heights of 60-80 feet.
• Teamwork skills.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Ready-mix industry knowledge or related industry experience is a plus.
• Electrical experience up to 480 VAC and control systems is a plus.
• Commercial Driver’s License.

Work Environment

Work takes place in an open garage environment in a gravel field. The environment can be hot, as it involves working in a shaded outdoor area. Training hours are from 8 am to 5 pm, and the work schedule starts at 5:30 am until the job is finished, which may extend to 12-hour shifts.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Medley, FL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $27.00/hr.
