BASIC SUMMARY:
We are seeking a motivated and professional Assistant Manager to support the leadership of our Fitness and Wellness department. The role is focused on ensuring the highest standards of service, operations, and member experience across fitness, spa, pool and wellness offerings. The ideal candidate will combine strong leadership and organizational skills with a passion for health and wellness, helping to inspire staff, elevate programming, and deliver an exceptional personalized experience for every member. Some weekend and evening availability is required.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the fitness desk, pool area, spa, laundry room and pool attendant window inclusive of the team members’ assigned duties and responsibilities.
- Administer and enforce club fitness, aquatics, spa policies and procedures.
- Oversee in conjunction with the Director, retail operations for fitness, aquatics and spa operations.
- Assist in inventory management.
- Monitor departmental KPIs and resources to optimize efficiency.
- Maintain and assist with staff schedules.
- Conduct daily facility walk arounds.
- Post and document weekly training topics and monthly safety topics for fitness and pool.
- Monitor and record daily facility tracking.
- Attend regularly scheduled in-service training and other informational meetings and be able to lead certain topics.
- Monitor nametags and team members professional appearance.
- Handle any employee related issue in line with Club & Spa guidelines.
- Manage member complaints in a fair and reasonable manner while maintaining a high level of member satisfaction and quality.
- If nationally certified opportunities to personal train and group instruct will accompany the position.
- Assist in the development and implementation of wellness programs and seminars.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in hospitality, Recreation, Business Administration, Exercise Physiology, Physical or Health Education preferred.
- Combination of Associate's degree and 5+ years’ fitness experience.
- Two years’ experience in the Hospitality Industry is preferred.
- Previous management experience is preferred.
- Proficient in writing, reading and speaking English.
- Current certifications.
- CPR/AED and First Aid certifications required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Knowledge of health, fitness, exercise principles, exercise testing and evaluation, and fitness programming.
- Work rotating shifts, weekends and holidays.
- Schedule vacations during the off-season months.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS – ABILITY TO:
• Grasp, lift, push/pull, carry or transport up to 50 lbs.
• Push/pull wheeled carts weighing up to 100 lbs.
• Work extended hours in hot, sometimes close conditions, stamina to manage a high energy work environment.
• Bend, stoop, kneel, and reach with hands and arms.
• Stand for length of scheduled shift.
• Express and exchange ideas by means of the spoken word accurately, loudly and quickly.
• Perceive the nature of sounds at a normal speaking level and make fine discriminations in sound.
• Have visual acuity to determine accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of the work assigned.
