We are currently looking for an Apprentice Optician or Optical Assistant to join our team! In this role you will provide support in ALL 3 of our SWFL offices.
THIS POSITION DOES REQUIRE TRAVEL WITHIN THE SWFL AREA. CANDIDATE MUST HAVE RELIABLE TRANSPORTATION AND THE ABILITY TO WORK IN ANY OF OUR OFFICES IN EITHER NAPLES, FT. MYERS OR PUNTA GORDA.

We are seeking a full-time, experienced Apprentice Optician or Optical Assistant who has an “eye” for detail and a desire to grow in the world of Ophthalmology. The ideal candidate will be patient-focused and a team player.

WHAT POWERS YOUR SUCCESS:
- High School Diploma
- 1-2 years of retail opticianry / dispensing experience required
- Knowledge of vision insurance plans, eligibility, and authorizations
- Experience or knowledge of EMR systems
- Passionate desire to be a part of a growing organization and contribute to the overall success of the team
- Strong organizational skills with great attention to detail
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate clearly and effectively with patients, staff, and doctors
- Working knowledge of proper sales techniques
- Being able to advise patients on proper frame design, fit, and performance
YOUR DAY-TO-DAY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform prescription analysis such as interpreting and transposing.
- Provide patient education regarding lens materials, products, and designs.
- Make recommendations to patients regarding proper eyeglass frame selection and fit
- Adjust/repair frames. Including proper alignment of frame, comfortable fit, functional vision
- Perform accurate measurements of lens power, pupillary distance, multifocal segment height, lens base curve, vertex distance, and prism power.
- Order custom lens products from wholesale optical laboratories, monitor process, post charges, and bill insurance when needed.
- Order contact lenses for patients based on prescription
- Instruct patients on proper contact lens care, insertion, and removal.
- Verify lens prescriptions of ordered lenses and check for accuracy
- Assist in wholesale purchasing of frames and other products for resale to patients.
- Maintain product displays
- Promote products and services of elective programs within Collins Vision
