Equipment Manager
Summary: The Equipment Manager plays a key role in supporting the golf course maintenance team by managing a comprehensive equipment maintenance program. This position is responsible for the repair, servicing, and preventative maintenance of all golf and landscape maintenance equipment. The Equipment Manager also oversees inventory, supervises support staff, ensures adherence to safety and environmental regulations, and maintains a clean, organized, and efficient maintenance facility.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but is not limited to, the following. Other duties may be assigned by his/her supervisor.
- Repairs all golf & landscape maintenance equipment in inventory and implements a preventative maintenance program while adhering to established departmental repair budgets.
- Maintains a clean, safe, and well-organized shop and equipment storage area.
- Sharpens reels and bed knives; overhauls and repairs engines, transmissions, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
- Performs welding and fabrication tasks as needed.
- Monitors and maintains adequate inventory of parts, supplies, and petroleum products.
- Ensures proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials, including waste oil.
- Keeps accurate maintenance records, including labor and parts used for each piece of equipment.
- Reports equipment misuse or damage to the Golf Course Superintendent.
- Assigns tasks and oversees the work of the Assistant Mechanic or Equipment Technician.
- Conducts daily course setup or maintenance activities as needed, including mowing, spraying, and fertilizing.
- Adheres to all safety policies and environmental regulations set by the club and applicable laws.

License Requirements: Valid Driver’s License with a clean motor vehicle report (MVR). Operator’s license must be valid for a minimum of 3 years (excluding learner’s permit).
Education and/or Experience: High School diploma or general education degree (GED); Three to five years of relevant experience and training.
Language Skills: Ability to read, write, and follow oral and written instructions.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to perform basic math involving addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division with an understand of units of measure including weight, volume, and distance
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense reasoning to carry out detailed but basic instructions.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The employee must also be able to operate light motorized equipment and have knowledge & physical ability to excavate around irrigation equipment carefully with a shovel.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts.
