Job Title: Carpenter – Sugar Refinery Construction

Location: Pahokee, FL

Job Type: Full Time (3-6 month project)

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Carpenter to join our construction team at a sugar refinery facility. This role combines traditional carpentry skills with foundation construction, site preparation, and rough-in work for plumbing and electrical systems. The Carpenter will also lead a small crew of laborers, ensuring that construction tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and to quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Construct, install, and repair wooden structures, formwork, and supports as needed for foundation and building projects
  • Prepare foundations, including digging trenches, installing conduit, and ensuring proper site grading and layout
  • Build and install form boards for concrete pours, ensuring accurate dimensions and structural integrity
  • Assist with or oversee rough-ins for plumbing, electrical, and other utility installations in coordination with tradespeople
  • Lead and supervise a small team (approx. 3 laborers), delegating tasks, providing guidance, and monitoring progress
  • Ensure that all work complies with safety regulations, company policies, and project specifications
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean and organized manner
  • Communicate effectively with project managers, engineers, and other trades to ensure tasks are completed on schedule

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • Proven experience as a carpenter, preferably in commercial, industrial, or heavy construction projects
  • Experience with concrete formwork, foundation preparation, and utility rough-ins
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, site plans, and construction drawings
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Knowledge of safety standards and proper use of tools and equipment
  • Physical stamina and the ability to perform manual labor, including lifting, bending, and standing for long periods

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in industrial or manufacturing environments (sugar refinery or similar facilities preferred)
  • Familiarity with trenching, conduit installation, and subgrade preparation
  • OSHA or safety certification

Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed primarily outdoors, on construction sites at the refinery
  • Exposure to dust, noise, and heavy machinery is expected
  • Protective gear (PPE) must be worn at all times
  • Schedule may include overtime or extended shifts depending on project needs

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Lead and direct a small crew of 3 laborers
  • Assign daily tasks, monitor quality and safety, and provide guidance and mentorship

  1. Must have current, valid driver's license
  2. Must have your own reliable transportation to and from work each day
  3. Must be willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions often for long periods
  4. Hourly rate is $23-25/hr depending on experience.
  5. Work begins 1/20/26 or ASAP
  6. Individual must successfully complete our pre-employment process which includes a drug test and criminal background check.
