JOB SUMMARY

This position is responsible for working, in coordination with the Executive Director of Golf Operations, to manage the golf operations and help create an exceptional "golf experience". Work is to be performed in conformance with the District policies, but independent judgment and initiative must be exercised in the technical and professional details of the operation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Includes, but not limited to)

  • Recruitment, hiring, training, and supervising all team members.
  • Implementation of policies and procedures among all managed staff.
  • Oversee all golf services and operations.
  • Oversee over-all operation of the reservation system and the monitoring of play.
  • Assist with the tracking and verifying of all players and guests, golf cars, handicap fees, and other charges necessary, and facilitate proper controls.
  • Enforce all rules and regulations governing golf course usage.
  • Help develop and manage an innovative tournament calendar program that services all customer segments.
  • Assist with the overall operations of a well-managed practice facility, where applicable.
  • Maintain a close working relationship with the Superintendent, other golf professionals and departments.
  • Assist in the marketing and promotion of play.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets, including forecasting and review of golf revenues and expenses on a daily, weekly, monthly and annual basis.
  • Assist with the approval of all weekly golf staff bi-weekly payroll, purchase orders and invoices.
  • Help supervise physical inventories and the display of merchandise.
  • Assist in the development of necessary systems to safeguard inventories.
  • Direct supervision of all facilities team members.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees, planning, assigning and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.

  • May be expected to perform additional duties in an emergency.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Associate degree with two (2) plus years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

MINIMUM CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Valid Florida Driver’s License required.
  • All candidates and employees must successfully pass background screening.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (Includes, but not limited to)

Knowledge

  • Must have working knowledge of golf rules, etiquette, management practices and office procedures.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations.

Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, time management and problem-solving skills.
  • Applicant must have strong working knowledge and use of Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Abilities

  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • English is required for oral and written communications.

EQUIPMENT (Includes, but not limited to)

Position regularly requires the use of golf teaching aids, golf cart, office equipment, including but not limited to telephones, personal computers and productivity software.
