TITLE: Camp Lifeguard - McKenzie's Camp Deep Pond
DEPARTMENT: BGCNF Profit Centers
REPORTS TO: Camp Director
CLASSIFICATION: Spring Break/ Seasonal Hire Non-Exempt 2026
WORK SCHEDULE: Generally, Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
Some weekend work on special event days and part-time work may be available during
the school year.

Camp Lifeguard $17.00 / Hr.
Description:
A Camp Lifeguard’s primary responsibility is the safety of all campers and staff and the safe operation of all waterfront activities. He or she is responsible for enforcing lifeguard rules, standards, and procedures. Camp Lifeguards are required to assist the Camp Director, other Lifeguards, and Camp Counselors with additional tasks and daily camp operations. Camp Lifeguards must be available to lead, assist, and/or participate in all camp activities which include, but are not limited to swimming, hiking, kayaking, outdoor sports, craft activities, camp set-up, take-down, and cleaning. Camp Lifeguards are to comply with all BGCNF, BGCA, MCDP, and ARC safety standards and safe operations, and the guidance, direction, and instructions of the Camp Director.
Requirements:
- Must possess appropriate and current Lifeguard, CPR, First Aid & AED certifications.
- Must adhere to and perform according to the standards of lifeguard certification, camp rules and operations, and the leadership of The Camp Director.
- Must be respected by, and respectful of others.
- Maintain composure in stressful situations, multitask, make quick decisions, troubleshoot problems, and adapt to changes in a fast-paced work environment.
- Must be able to understand and enforce safety policies.
- Must be able to identify, respond to, and extract a distressed individual.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with ambassadors, guests, and leadership.
- Must be able to work in/around water for entire shifts.
- Must be comfortable with heights and diving into water from heights of up to 12 feet.
- Must be able to dive to depths of 15- 20 feet.
- Must be able to repetitively climb on ladders, uneven surfaces, or towers.
- Must be able to lift to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to push/pull up to 100 pounds with assistance.
- Must be able to stand for an entire shift, often on uneven surfaces.
- Must be able to bend, reach, twist, and turn with complete flexibility.
- Must be able to work in a team environment.
- Must be able to walk/run in sand.
- Must be able to work in all weather conditions.
- Must be available to work varying shifts/hours and duties based on camp needs.
- Valid identification and employment authorization documents to complete Form I-9
- Experience working with youth is a plus.
- Transportation may be provided.
Additional Responsibilities
- General supervision and safety of campers
- Lead and participate in various camp programs and activities
- Daily camp set-up, take-down, maintenance, and cleaning of MCDP facilities and camp equipment
- Attend relevant staff meetings and training events
- May participate in additional special programs and/or events
- Other duties as assigned

- Experience or interest in kayaking, archery, biking, nature, outdoor sports and additional adventure activities

- Ability to pass DCF Level II background screening and drug test
