RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs highly complex testing without supervision, in an accurate and timely manner in the fields of microbiology
- Determines the acceptability of specimens and completes appropriate Specimen Rejection forms and/or Revision Request forms
- Maintains accurate records of all specimens received and distributed from the laboratory
- Monitors the status of pending tests and reports updates in a timely manner
- Reviews worksheets and completed test reports for accuracy
- Assists in maintaining files of all testing performed in the laboratory with strong attention to detail
- Routinely performs quality control and quality assurance on equipment and reagents according to established protocols
- Performs periodic maintenance on laboratory equipment and maintains accurate and complete records of maintenance performed
- Enters and reports results in an accurate, timely, and confidential manner
- Troubleshoots problems of equipment, assays, and helps document non-conformance and Corrective Action / Preventive Action (CAPA) evaluations
- Directs training for other team members and leads implementation of process improvements
- Other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS
Education
- Associates degree
Experience
- 6+ years of experience working in a microbiology lab
- *Additional education or experience may be considered in lieu of requirements
Certification
- Licensed as a Medical Technologist by the State of Florida, preferred
Skills
- Laboratory software
- Strong verbal and written communication
- Aseptic technique and sterile consciousness
- General laboratory bench techniques
- Recognizes variables that could affect test results
Travel

Physical Requirement
- Move or lift objects up to 25 pounds
- Frequent (>75%) stationary position (standing or sitting) while utilizing digital displays
- Frequent (>75%) fine manipulation using hands and fingers (typing, opening, writing, clicking, paper sorting, etc.)
Working Environment
- Onsite: Office environment with assigned workstation
