The Goddard School is seeking an enthusiastic Chess Enrichment Teacher to introduce preschool-aged children to chess through engaging, age-appropriate lessons. Instructors who are available for extended hours may also assist with or lead other STEAM enrichment experiences such as logic games, basic engineering challenges, and hands-on problem-solving activities.

What Youll Do

• Lead fun, interactive chess enrichment classes for preschool students
• Use a structured curriculum to teach chess fundamentals, basic strategy, and good sportsmanship
• Keep children engaged through games, movement, and hands-on learning
• Manage a lively classroom with positivity, patience, and confidence
• Encourage critical thinking, problem-solving, creativity, and focus
• If available for longer hours, assist with or lead additional STEAM enrichment activities (science exploration, engineering challenges, logic games, and creative problem-solving)
• Follow all school safety and supervision protocols
• Arrive on time, prepared, and ready to engage students

What Were Looking For


Required Qualifications

• Experience working with groups of children (teaching, tutoring, coaching, enrichment, or similar)
• Strong understanding of chess fundamentals and the ability to teach them in an age-appropriate way
• Comfort leading a class independently and creating a fun, welcoming learning environment
• Professional, positive, and kid-friendly demeanor
• Genuine desire to be a positive role model and promote good sportsmanship
• Strong punctuality and time-management skills
• Commitment to school safety and policies

Preferred (Nice to Have)

• Interest or experience in STEAM enrichment (science, technology, engineering, art, math)
• Ability to adapt activities to different age groups and learning styles
