Speech Therapist (SLP) – GencareKids PPEC
Locations: Haines City, FL 33844 & Lakeland, FL 33809
Position Summary
The Speech Therapist (Speech-Language Pathologist) at GencareKids PPEC provides high-quality speech, language, feeding, and communication therapy services to medically fragile pediatric patients in a Prescribed Pediatric Extended Care (PPEC) setting. The SLP works as part of a multidisciplinary team—including nursing, PT, OT, and behavioral staff—to support each child’s individualized plan of care and help maximize developmental outcomes.
Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Responsibilities
- Conduct evaluations to assess speech, language, cognitive-communication, feeding, and swallowing skills.
- Develop individualized treatment plans (ITPs) based on physician orders and patient needs.
- Provide direct therapy services to infants and children with medical complexities.
- Implement interventions for:
- Expressive & receptive language delays
- Speech sound disorders
- Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC)
- Feeding disorders & dysphagia (if credentialed)
- Pragmatic/social communication
- Document treatment sessions, progress notes, and reassessments according to PPEC and regulatory standards.
- Maintain compliance with Medicaid, state, and federal guidelines.
Collaboration & Communication
- Participate in interdisciplinary care planning with nurses, therapists, caregivers, and physicians.
- Communicate professionally with families regarding goals, progress, recommendations, and home strategies.
- Train staff on communication strategies, AAC usage, and safe feeding techniques when appropriate.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to infection-control and safety standards within the PPEC environment.
- Protect patient rights and maintain confidentiality per HIPAA.
- Report changes in condition, concerns, or incidents promptly to the clinical leader.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology.
- Active Florida SLP license; ASHA CCC-SLP preferred (CFY considered).
- CPR certification and Level II background clearance.
- Pediatric experience preferred; PPEC or medically complex experience a plus.
Schedule
