Position Overview
The Apprentice Electrician will work under the supervision of a licensed Journeyman Electrician to assist in installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems and components. This position is ideal for individuals seeking to develop hands-on experience, technical knowledge, and the skills needed to advance toward journeyman-level certification.
Technical Skills
- Basic understanding of electrical systems, wiring, and circuitry
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings
- Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and electrical testing equipment
- Knowledge of NEC electrical code and OSHA regulations
- Basic math and measurement skills for calculating voltage, current, and resistance
- Understanding of conduit bending, wiring installation, and cable management
- Ability to assist in installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical components and systems
Soft Skills
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
- Willingness to learn and follow directions from journeyman electricians or supervisors
- Good problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities
- Dependable, punctual, and hardworking
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to adapt to changing job site conditions and tasks
- Strong work ethic and pride in craftsmanship
Physical & Practical Abilities
- Ability to lift, carry, and move heavy materials and equipment
- Comfortable working on ladders, scaffolding, and in confined spaces
- Manual dexterity and good hand-eye coordination
- Stamina to work long hours or in various weather conditions
Preferred Qualifications
- Completion of (or enrollment in) an approved electrical apprenticeship program
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Basic knowledge of electrical codes (NEC preferred)
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification (a plus)
