About the Role

The Surgical Scheduler is responsible for overseeing daily administrative and financial operations within the Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC). This role ensures efficient scheduling, billing, insurance verification, compliance with regulatory standards, and coordination of front office functions to support high-quality patient care.

POSITION’S ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Scheduling & Registration: Manage patient scheduling, ensure accurate registration, and verify insurance eligibility and authorizations.
  • Billing & Collections: Coordinate billing processes, ensure accurate coding, and manage accounts receivable, including patient collections.
  • Compliance & Documentation: Maintain compliance with HIPAA, Medicare, and other regulatory guidelines; ensure proper documentation and reporting.
  • Financial Management: Assist with budget tracking, revenue cycle processes, and reporting financial performance to leadership.
  • Patient & Staff Coordination: Act as a liaison between patients, clinical teams, and administrative personnel to ensure seamless office operations.
  • Office Administration: Oversee office supply management, vendor coordination, and maintain an organized work environment.
  • Quality & Performance Improvement: Identify opportunities for process optimization and contribute to continuous improvement efforts within the ASC.
  • Other duties as assigned.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Completes required orientation as directed by facility.
  • Follows facility and OSHA safety rules and procedures while on assignment.
  • Respects cultural and religious practices of patients.
  • Upholds HIPAA regulations.
  • Punctual and dependent for assigned/confirmed shifts.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Associates degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years in a healthcare business office setting, preferably in an ASC or outpatient facility.
  • Strong knowledge of medical billing, coding (CPT, ICD-10), insurance verification, and revenue cycle management.
  • Experience with electronic health records (EHR) and practice management software.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities with a customer service mindset.
  • Flexible schedule. Position requires early morning openings.
