Job Description

The Bellperson is responsible for providing exceptional guest service by assisting with luggage handling, valet duties, and ensuring guests feel welcomed from arrival through departure. This role plays a key part in creating positive first and last impressions by offering professional, courteous, and efficient assistance. The Bellperson embodies the resort’s commitment to hospitality excellence and supports the overall guest experience through attentiveness and teamwork.


Key Responsibilities

  • Greet guests warmly upon arrival and departure, providing professional and courteous assistance with luggage and personal items

  • Escort guests to and from rooms, explaining hotel amenities, features, and services

  • Deliver luggage, packages, and other guest items promptly and accurately

  • Assist guests with directions, transportation arrangements, and information about local attractions

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in lobby, entryway, and luggage storage areas

  • Support valet and front desk teams with guest arrivals, departures, and special requests

  • Ensure prompt response to guest needs, requests, and inquiries with a positive attitude

  • Handle luggage tags, storage tickets, and guest belongings securely and accurately

  • Monitor lobby traffic and assist in maintaining a welcoming and professional atmosphere

  • Communicate effectively with front desk, housekeeping, and other departments to ensure seamless service

  • Follow safety procedures and protocols when handling guest items or operating carts and other equipment

  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management to support the guest experience


Must-Have Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a customer service or hospitality-related role

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a genuine passion for helping others

  • Professional appearance and demeanor

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining composure and attention to detail

  • Reliable, punctual, and team-oriented

  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays


Preferred Qualifications (Not Required)

  • Prior experience as a Bellperson, Valet, or Porter in a hotel or resort environment

  • Knowledge of Fort Lauderdale and surrounding attractions

  • Bi-lingual: English/Spanish


Physical Demands

  • Ability to stand, walk, and move continuously for extended periods (up to 8 hours per workday)

  • Frequent bending, lifting, and carrying of luggage or other items up to 50 lbs
    Clear speech, hearing, and vision for effective communication and situational awareness

  • Ability to safely operate luggage carts and assist guests with mobility as needed

Other Information

  • FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt

  • Reports To: Guest Services Manager

  • Work location: Onsite at The Garden Hotel, Fort Lauderdale, FL.

  • Work environment: Lobby and front entrance areas

  • Working schedule: Flexibility with work hours, including weekends and holidays is essential, as scheduling will depend on business needs. This position may require evening availability. Adaptability is key in a hospitality environment
