Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Lead Plumber to join our team in Tallahassee. The role involves working on brand new apartment constructions, focusing on underground, pre-fab, level checking, plastic pipe installation, and more. Candidates must possess experience in new commercial construction and demonstrate proficiency in assembling, installing, and repairing pipes, fittings, and fixtures for heating, water, and drainage systems according to specifications and plumbing codes.
Responsibilities
- Work on 1/2 inch to 6-inch cpvc, pvc, copper, underground, and prefab pipes depending on crew assignment.
- Install and repair pipes, fittings, or fixtures for heating, water, or drainage systems following specifications or plumbing codes.
- Measure, cut, thread, or bend pipe to required angles using appropriate tools.
- Study building plans and inspect structures to assess materials and equipment needs, establishing the sequence of pipe installations.
- Locate and mark positions for pipe installations, connections, hangers, passage holes, or fixtures using measuring instruments.
- Fill pipes or plumbing fixtures with water or air and observe pressure gauges to detect and locate leaks.
- Assemble pipe sections, tubing, or fittings using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement, plastic solvent, caulking, or soldering, brazing, or welding equipment.
- Install pipe assemblies, fittings, valves, and appliances such as dishwashers, water heaters, sinks, and toilets.
- Engage in pipe cutting, preassembly, or installation of plumbing systems or components.
- Cut openings in structures to accommodate pipes or pipe fittings.
- Review blueprints, building codes, or specifications to determine correct work procedures.
- Install underground storm, sanitary, or water piping systems, extending piping as needed to connect fixtures and plumbing.
- Maintain or repair plumbing by replacing defective washers, mending broken pipes, or opening clogged drains.
- Anchor steel supports from ceiling joists to hold pipes in place.
Essential Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of commercial construction experience.
- Proficiency in working with pvc, copper, and other materials.
- Ability to study building plans and inspect structures.
- Experience with domestic water and sanitary systems.
- Capability to install fixtures, hangers, and pipes.
- Familiarity with plumbing tools and equipment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Possession of basic hand tools.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. 15 times daily.
- Capacity to stand for extended periods and climb ladders or steps.

Work Environment
The work environment includes construction projects located in Tallahassee and Cairo, focusing on new hospital and FSU buildings. The job involves outdoor work, with exposure to varying weather conditions – hot summers and cold winters. This is a large, commercial construction job site requiring physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy objects.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $30.00/hr.
