About the Role:
The Yard Man at our Minneola, FL Plant plays a critical role in maintaining the efficient flow of materials and products within the facility's yard and storage areas. This position ensures that all incoming and outgoing shipments are properly handled, organized, and documented to support uninterrupted production and distribution processes. The Yard Man is responsible for operating various types of equipment safely and effectively to move heavy materials, contributing to overall plant safety and productivity. This role requires close coordination with warehouse, production, and logistics teams to optimize yard operations and minimize delays. Ultimately, the Yard Man helps maintain a clean, safe, and well-organized yard environment that supports the plant’s operational goals and customer satisfaction.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid forklift operator certification or ability to obtain certification upon hire.
- Previous experience in a yard, warehouse, or material handling role preferred.
- Ability to operate heavy equipment safely and follow all safety protocols.
- Physical ability to lift heavy objects and work in outdoor conditions.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience operating multiple types of material handling equipment such as loaders and pallet jacks.
- Familiarity with inventory management systems and basic computer skills.
- Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations and best practices in yard operations.
- Strong communication skills to effectively coordinate with team members and supervisors.
- Previous experience working in a manufacturing or distribution plant environment.
Responsibilities:
- Operate forklifts, loaders, and other material handling equipment to move raw materials, finished goods, and supplies within the yard.
- Load and unload trucks, trailers, and railcars, ensuring accurate documentation and proper handling of all shipments.
- Organize and stack materials in designated yard locations to maximize space utilization and maintain orderliness.
- Conduct routine inspections of equipment and yard areas to identify and report safety hazards or maintenance needs.
- Collaborate with warehouse and production teams to coordinate timely movement of materials and support inventory management.
- Maintain cleanliness and safety standards in the yard by removing debris and ensuring compliance with company policies.
- Assist with inventory counts and documentation to ensure accurate tracking of materials and products.
Skills:
The Yard Man uses required skills such as equipment operation and safety awareness daily to ensure materials are moved efficiently and without incident. Physical stamina and attention to detail are essential for handling heavy loads and maintaining an organized yard.
