Job Title: Formulation Chemist

Pay Rate: $55k -$ 70k

Location: Jupiter , FL

Working Hours: M-F 8am to 5pm

Job Description
The Formulation Chemist leads production and maintenance teams to formulate a variety of products pertinent to the business. The candidate is also responsible in supporting new formula development or process optimization, influencing quality control, safety, productivity, cost, and increasing employees’ skills and capabilities.

Qualifications

  • B.S., M.S., or PhD in Chemistry (or Sciences) is preferred, but not required
  • Tertiary level education in Production/Operations Management or equivalent, with at least three (3) years supervisory experience
  • At least 3 years of experience in developing formulations (lab scale chemistry, formulation development, production scale-up, process optimization, etc.)
  • Experience with formulation scale-up principles and challenges
  • Scientific curiosity and networking abilities to find breakthrough, innovative technologies and processes
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal and team skills.
  • Process and results oriented.
  • Ability to influence, train and motivate employees to achieve the desired results.
  • Planning and organizational skills, with an ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.

Duties & Responsibilities
➢ Develop and formulate current and new chemical products that meet customer specifications and regulatory requirements
➢ Conduct experiments and analyze data to optimize formulations for enhanced performance and stability
➢ Collaborate with cross functional teams, including R&D, manufacturing, and sales to bring new products to market
➢ Evaluate and improve existing formulations based on performance testing and customer feedback
➢ Provide technical support to production departments during scale-up of new products from lab to manufacturing
➢ Research and stay informed about industry trends, competitor products, and advancements in formulation technology
➢ Ensure compliance with safety, health, and environmental regulations throughout the formulation process and all available work areas
➢ Document formulation processes, results, and any modifications in compliance with standard operating procedures
➢ Manage a group of 3-6 Formulation operators and technicians, ensuring productions are completed according to specifications
➢ Coordinate, document, and implement daily production schedule, and provide continuous progress update with the Production Supervisor and the Operations VP.
➢ Manage daily & monthly summary reports in formulation
➢ Maintain operations data such as time, production, quality, and cost records, and prepare management reports of production results.
➢ Participate in and oversee the preparation of manufacturing documentation, including batch record, quality control and specification sheets, ensuring SOP’s are followed accurately by all team members.
➢ Ensure quality control of raw materials and finished products is completed
➢ Perform all project tasks in compliance with corporate Environmental, Health, and Safety principles.
➢ Enforce safety and sanitation regulation in order to maintain OSHA and EPA compliance.
➢ Direct and coordinate the activities of employees engaged in the manufacturing process, such as product/formulation mixers, inventory coordinator, and maintenance team
➢ Read and analyze work orders, production schedules, and other records and reports in order to determine production requirements and to evaluate current production estimates and outputs.
➢ Plan and establish work schedules, assignments, and production sequences to meet production goals.
➢ Coordinate all personnel work and safety training. Demonstrate equipment operations and work and safety procedures to new employees, and assign employees to experienced workers for ongoing training and development.
➢ Observe work, and monitor gauges, dials, and other indicators to ensure that operators conform to production or processing standards.
➢ Confer with management to tackle personnel topics.
➢ Recommend or implement measures to motivate employees and to improve production methods, equipment performance, product quality, or efficiency.
➢ Recommend personnel actions such as hiring and promotions
➢ Requisition materials, supplies, equipment parts, or repair services.
