MISSION:

Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Tampa Bay is a nonprofit organization based throughout Pinellas, Pasco and Hillsborough county, whose mission is to enable all young people especially those who need us the most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, and responsible citizens. PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Provide tutoring, academic enrichment, and
remedial education services to targeted Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Tampa Bay members.

KEY ROLES:

  1. Specifically focused on academic enrichment.
  2. Designs, plans and implements education programs, activities and services that meet member needs.
  3. Perform academic evaluation of participating youth.
  4. May be assigned other duties as requested by supervisor.

RELATIONSHIPS:

Internal: Maintains close, daily contact with Club
Staff (professional, part-time and volunteers), Club members, and supervisor to
receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain guidelines/instructions;
instruct; and/or advise/counsel.

External: Maintains contact with external community
groups, schools, members’ parents and others to assist in developing positive
relationships and resolving problems.

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

  • BA/BS Degree from an accredited, four-year university or college in a field related to
    education. State of Florida Teachers Certificate required.
  • At least 1-2 years teaching experience.
  • Demonstrated experience and ability to work collaboratively with partners and schools.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and communication skills.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of the mission, objectives, policies, programs and procedures of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Tampa Bay; and the principles and practices of non-profit organizations.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Ability to clearly and concisely exchange/receive ideas, facts and or technical information with others.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Required to use hands to handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. Occasionally required to stand and walk and may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

TRAVEL:

Travel will be required to multiple Club facilities throughout Pinellas County for supervisory, training and/or other business purposes.
