TRAKAmerica is a national accounts receivable management and outsourcing provider for many of the largest financial institutions in the country. We currently have two immediate openings for a Paralegal that will join our existing dynamic legal claims team which manages the processes associated with reporting and investigating lawsuits, counterclaims, and regulatory inquiries, and also provide other support in legal operations of the Company. This position will fill a role critical to our continued growth in Bonita Springs, Florida. This position is classified as non-exempt under the FLSA and will be entitled to earn overtime for any hours worked in excess of 40 hours in a given work week.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Legal Claims group is part of the company’s Legal Department and serves as the primary interaction point for the Company's nationwide network of law firms and collection agencies and its clients and is responsible for receiving inbound claims through an automatic intake process, processing, investigating and resolving the claims, responding to and ensuring the next steps are performed to resolve the claims, including interacting with the network and clients through resolution.

The position will require strong research skills, the ability to ask clarifying questions to ensure a thorough understanding of the circumstances giving rise to the claim, including available resolution strategies and the capability to clearly communicate the information gathered and suggested path to resolution. The successful candidate will be expected to possess intellectual curiosity, exercise independent judgment and initiative to maintain strict timelines, thrive under pressure, work independently, and think critically through the requisite steps to meet and exceed agreed turnaround times.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILTIES:

  • Manage assigned cases to resolution
  • Liaise with members of the Legal Department, network and clients
  • Effectively track and manage deadlines
  • Host and direct telephone conferences
  • Alert management to escalated allegations or demands
  • Various other items as assigned by management

JOB COMPETENCIES:

  • Ability to collect and analyze relevant data, legal documents and case law to provide summaries and analysis
  • Prior experience managing tasks in a process-oriented environment
  • Ability to develop a strong understanding of client defined processes and data flow requirements
  • Exceptional attention to details, problem assessment, sound judgment, problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Developed organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Ability to recognize urgent matters and escalate when necessary
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, planning and decision-making skills
  • Strong computer skills using Windows 7, Microsoft Office 2016, Excel, Outlook, and Word. PowerPoint skills are a plus.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • An associate's or bachelor's degree in legal studies or a related field, or a minimum of three years' proven experience as a legal assistant or paralegal

Other Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • Prior paralegal/litigation experience preferred
